Tenth in the line of succession after King Prithvi Narayan Shah, His Majesty King Birendra ascended the throne of the kingdom of Nepal on January 31,1972. Nepal Rastra Bank feels it a privilege and honour to join the nation in celebrating this auspicious occasion by issuing this commemorative coin as a mark of respect and reverence to His Majesty the King .
