Political instability, government change, corruption and various controversial incidents were widely seen in Nepal after the restoration of democracy in 2047 15 governments were formed in 15 years between 2048 to 2062, which reflects the volatility of the political system.
During that time, leaders including Girijaprasad Koirala, Sher Bahadur Deuba, Surya Bahadur Thapa, Lokendra Bahadur Chand had become Prime Ministers repeatedly while then King Gyanendra Shah also conducted direct rule twice.
In this period, political distortion, corruption, struggle for power and conflict increased deep dissatisfaction among the people, which ultimately set the journey from the end of monarchy to the establishment of republic.
