Last week, the Embassy of Finland in Nepal got an opportunity to visit Sudurpashchim Province together with the European Union in Nepal .

A journey through Nepal's changing landscapes provided an opportunity to observe both Nepal's remarkable landscapes and the realities facing rural communities.

The contrast between thriving farms supported by improved irrigation 🌿and fields affected by increasing water scarcity 🪾 illustrates the growing impacts of climate change. 🛘

The visit reinforced the importance of climate-resilient planning and local solutions to secure sustainable livelihoods for the future.🤝✨

As a throwback to the recent mission of UN Assistant Secretary-General and UN Women Deputy Executive Director Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda to Nepal, H.E. Petri Puhakka, Finland Ambassador to Nepal, reflected on the meaningful interactions with women farmers, entrepreneurs, innovators, and community leaders. The Finland funded initiative was one of the major highlights of the mission where the conversations highlighted the transformative impact of women’s leadership, economic empowerment, and inclusive local development in Nepal.

Finland has been a long-standing partner of UN Women Nepal in advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment. In this video, Ambassador Puhakka reflects on the importance of continued partnerships to strengthen women’s leadership, inclusive governance, economic opportunities, and gender-responsive systems in Nepal.

Together, Finland and UN Women Nepal remain committed to ensuring that no woman or girl is left behind as Nepal advances towards a more equal and inclusive future.
