Is DV cancelled or not?
As of late December 2025, the U.S. Department of State has paused (suspended) the issuance of all Diversity Visas (DV).
Here are the key details regarding the status of the program:
Issuance is Paused: While interviews and application submissions may continue, no new visas are being issued.
Reason: The pause is due to a security review of screening protocols, initiated following a shooting incident in December 2025 involving an individual who entered through the DV program.
Existing Appointments: Currently scheduled interviews will generally not be cancelled or rescheduled.
Valid Visas: Already issued, valid visas have not been revoked.
Impact on 2027 Program: The registration period for the DV-2027 program has been delayed and is not currently open.
This is a temporary pause to allow for a review of the program's security measures.
