How to support your people during another lockdown.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We’re taking a break from December Reflection Month here at Bravely to react to yesterday’s announcement from the Dutch government: Another lockdown until January 19th.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We’re received quite a lot of questions from you guys about how to stay in touch with your people and get them through this new lockdown. During one-on-one coaching and in training sessions we hear one thing from employees that keeps coming up: They feel lonely, very low in energy and distanced from their work. Unfortunately, a logical byproduct of the Corona limitations of this year. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What can you say to your people to make them feel more connected again to your company? Here are some tips and phrases that might help to get the first conversation going, to get back in touch. Tomorrow we will post more tips on how to motivate them once the first shock/frustration has settled.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➡️ Share your own vulnerability ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Can you believe it, another lockdown. I’m feeling overwhelmed by this and quite low in energy. I need some time to process it and then find a way to reconnect to you guys despite the distance.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➡️ Ask for their experience⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“I find that everybody deals with the situation differently and I would really like to know how you are doing. Would you like to tell me?” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➡️ Open up the conversation and take away the stigma⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“I hear from many people that they are feeling low in energy, have little motivation and can be quite lonely. I think all that is normal in this situation. How are you doing in all this?” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➡️ Show empathy⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“I’m sorry you’re feeling (name feeling of the other, for example: low/confused/frustrated/lonely/angry...). What do you need right now?”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
