Today, we again gathered in Ayamasa community in Ekeremor Local Government Area of the State for the 13th year remembrance of our late mother, Madam Rose Diri.

Every 15th of May brings us fond memories of our dear mother, a virtuous woman who made a great impact on the children and the entire family.

It is indeed true that our late mother had a special place in our hearts for the love she showered on us.

We will continue to celebrate her legacy of good parenting. Let me appreciate all our guests who came to join us in honouring our mother. Thank you all for coming!

‎2026 Prosperity Cup: Congratulations Okoroma FC, Active Ladies

It was an exciting grassroots football cracker this evening in the final of the male version of the 2026 Prosperity Football Cup at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex, Ovom, Yenagoa with Okoroma United FC of Nembe LGA emerging as the new champion.

Alongside my Deputy, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Akpe, other distinguished guests and football lovers, we were entertained to a good football artistry by the two teams- Okoroma United of Okoroma from Nembe Local Government Area and Akinima/Biogbo of Ogboloma, Yenagoa Local Government Area.

I am also glad with the report that the final of the female version was interesting with the Active Ladies of Agudama, defeating the Afini Ladies of Amarata.

Again, let me appreciate the organisers for the sustenance of the competition and all our corporate sponsors for their contribution to the socio-economic development of the state parties, the youth.

Thank you to our lead sponsor, Dr. Emmanuel Efe Emefienim, the Managing Director/CEO, Premium Trust Bank for your continued partnership.

Let me equally acknowledge the partnership between the organisers and FC Barcelona of Spain, in the development of talents from this competition.

While I congratulate the 227 participating male teams and the 21 female teams in the tournament, our Government of Assured Prosperity will continue to use sporting activities to drive youth development.

Today, I had the honour of receiving my Brother-Governor of Taraba State, H.E. Agbu Kefas, alongside his longtime friend, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) and other respected leaders and stakeholders at Government House, Yenagoa.

This visit is a strong reminder that beyond politics and differing perspectives, we remain bound by a shared heritage, identity, and deep friendship as a people.

I do appreciate the collaboration between Bayelsa and Taraba states in the collective interest of our people.

I truly welcome this show of solidarity and brotherhood. It is through unity, mutual respect, and continuous engagement that we can preserve our values, strengthen our voice, and secure a better future for our people.

Now more than ever, we must remain committed to fostering peace, collaboration, and inclusiveness across our communities.

Together, we are stronger.

Yesterday, I received an African daughter, the Mayor of Banjul, capital city of The Gambia, Hon. Rohey Malick Lowe, who is here to identify with our progress and development.

Our discussions centred on a cause I hold very dear: empowering women, promoting gender equality, and advancing social justice across our society.

I deeply appreciate her kind words and acknowledgment of our administration’s efforts in creating opportunities for women to thrive and contribute meaningfully to governance.

As I have always maintained, when women are empowered, the entire nation is empowered. Our commitment in Bayelsa State remains firm: to build an inclusive system where women are not just participants, but key drivers of development and progress.

I commend Mayor Lowe for her courage, leadership, and advocacy on the global stage, and I look forward to strengthening collaborations that will further elevate the role of African women in leadership.

While I have received her invitation to attend an upcoming women-focused programme in Banjul, we must strive towards a strong partnership to break barriers, eliminate intimidation in politics, and create a society where every woman has the platform to rise and succeed.

Once again, welcome to the “Glory of all Lands. Nua!

Today, as we mark the 2026 Workers’ Day, I joined our hardworking civil servants at the Peace Park in Yenagoa to celebrate their resilience, dedication, and invaluable contributions to the growth of our dear state.

In recognition of their commitment, I have directed the Head of Service to immediately commence the allocation of the completed 108 housing units in Okaka to our civil servants. This is a deliberate step to improve their welfare and ensure they have access to decent and comfortable accommodation.

I have also approved the implementation of all annual step increments going forward. Let me reassure our workers that the payment of promotion arrears and outstanding increments is ongoing and will continue until every kobo owed is fully settled. Your sacrifices will never go unnoticed.

As part of our continued efforts to ease transportation challenges, we will be adding more modern buses to the existing fleet to serve our workforce better.

I must also extend my sincere appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the recent inauguration of key legacy projects in Bayelsa. These projects, particularly the installation of gas turbines, will soon come to life as we move to power our state and boost development across all sectors.

To our workers, I say thank you. Your partnership with the Prosperity Administration remains the backbone of our achievements. Together, we will continue to build a stronger, more prosperous Bayelsa.

Happy Workers’ Day!

Today, I had the pleasure of receiving our dear immediate past Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, in Yenagoa to inaugurate two of our completed projects: the Agbura-Ox-Bow Lake road and the Oporoma Referral Hospital.

This visit, only a few days after Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, inaugurated the historic 630-metre Angiama-Oporoma bridge across the River Nun, is very exciting to Prof. Osinbajo, who, four years ago on February 19th, 2022, performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the bridge.

Today, as we drove to Oporoma to inaugurate the Referral Hospital, Prof. Osinbajo asked that we stop the convoy so he could physically feel the Angiama-Oporoma bridge. What a nostalgic feeling for him, seeing such a landmark project in a hitherto forested site!

At Oporoma town, where the people of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area gathered to host Prof. Osinbajo and me for our commitment to deliver the bridge that has been on the cards for over 60 years, I appreciated the former Vice President for being a great friend of Bayelsa State.

Interestingly, today, I was told that the construction of the Oporoma Referral Hospital started as far back as 1973. Truly, this is yet another historic project to boost healthcare in the area.

Our Government of Assured Prosperity is redefining governance and we are taming the hitherto “difficult” terrain to deliver legacy projects for our people. Once again, thank you Professor Yemi Osinbajo, for identifying with us. Nua! Mbana sir!

This morning, after a condolence visit to the family of my late friend, Senator Barinada Mpigi, in Koroma community, Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State, I joined them and other distinguished guests for the funeral outing service at the Koroma Deanery Beth-El Anglican Church, Diocese of Ogoni.

My presence in church today was to pay my last respects to a friend and brother, an astute politician, a man of vision, whom God had called back home after his exemplary life of impact.

In my message in church, I shared with the congregation of my great relationship with Late Mpigi, whom our path crossed as colleagues at both the Green and Red Chambers of the National Assembly.

As a worthy son of Ogoni land and Niger Delta, Late Mpigi, displayed rare courage and passion in our continued struggle and advocacy for the development of the oil-rich region.

As Christians, the scriptures remind us that death indeed is a necessary end that will come when it will come.

On behalf of the good people of Bayelsa State and Government of Assured Prosperity, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the father of our late friend, Sir. (Chief)Sunday Mpigi, the wife, Patricia, children and other family members as I pray God to grant us all the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss. May God continue to keep the family strong and united.
