The Joint Task Force operations DELTA SAFE has assured the people of Niger Delta area that they are out to protect oil and gas, their infrastructure and to stop militancy, sea piracy, crude oil thieves and other pattern of criminality that are disrupting the operations area and affecting the economy of Niger Delta.

These Illegal activities includes:
oil bunkery, pipeline vandalism amongst others. These activities also affect the environment, farms, and the economy of the Niger Delta region.

The joint task force has also encouraged the people of the Operation area and the public to come together to restore their land, talk to one another about the negative  impact of this illegal activities on their economy, environment and society at large.

Rare Admiral Aminu Hassan takes over as commander Operation Delta Safe
The new commander has made it clear that integrity, teamwork, professionality and zero tolerance for illegality will be their watch word.

He also assured the people of the Niger Delta region that the operation led by him will protect oil and gas and other continental resources in the Niger Delta area as captured by the Mandate of the Operation Delta Safe Joint Task Force.

OPERATION DELTA SAFE INTENSIFIES CLAMP DOWN ON SPONSORS OF CRUDE OIL THEFT ….DESTROYS 80 ILLEGAL REFINERIES

Troops of joint operation DELTA SAFE have intensified raids operation against crude oil theft with destruction of 80 illegal refineries across Bayelsa, Delta and Rivers States recently.

In Bayelsa state, troops patrol around Obhoyohan and Ngiri Creeks in Nembe Local Government Area discovered and destroyed 7 illegal refineries containing 150,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil. Three suspects were also arrested in connection with the illegalities, and are currently undergoing investigation.

While in Delta State, troops patrol around Sara Abileye Swamp in Warri South West Local Government Area discovered a network of 6 illegal refineries made up of 4 storage tanks, 2 dug out pits filled with products suspected to be stolen crude oil.

In addition, another patrol at the axis of Ajoloso Creek in Elume community destroyed a camp housing 8 illegal refineries.

Similarly, troops destroyed 9 illegal refineries comprised of 4 ground pits and 3 metal tanks filled with product suspected to be stolen crude oil at Katu near Camp 5 in Warri South West. This is in addition to 7 illegal refineries earlier destroyed around Opunami Creek.

Another patrol conducted around Udu, Ughelli South Local Government discovered 8 illegal refineries depot at Udu trailer park and destroyed 1200 drums laden with 140 metric tonnes of illegally refined Diesel.

UPDATE ON OPERATION DELTA SAFE ACTIVITIES.

Troops of Sector 1, on a tip off discovered some illegal bunkering equipment along Chanomi North bank pipeline, Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State. Items recovered include one welding machine, 2 inserted valves. 2 shovels, 2 filing machines, 2 packets of electrolyte, one hose, bolts, nuts of various sizes and a pumping machine.

Troops while on patrol also discovered militants/kidnappers camp at Rumuekpe, which was destroyed. Also troops handed over to Ughelli Area Command, 2 suspects Messrs Julius Egorume and Ese Ohoro who were arrested earlier in connection with act of vandalism at Nigeria Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) Well Head 12 located between Otu Jeremi and Ukpiovwin communities in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Furthermore, the troops while on patrol at Ugbemu Village along Oghara Benin Road in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State intercepted a tipper with registration number Akwa Ibom XA 240 KTD carrying 200 litres locally constructed tanks filled with product suspected to be illegally refined diesel.

3 suspects were arrested alongside the tipper and products undergoing preliminary investigation.

A patrol team at Adeje community along Sapele Warri Road in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State intercepted a Volkswagen car with registration number Anambra AH 615 ATN carrying 27 Containers of 25 litre Jerrycans filled with product suspected to be illegally refilled Dual Purpose Kerosine. Suspect, vehicle and product undergoing preliminary investigation.

OPERATION DELTA SAFE GETS NEW SPOKESMAN

Following the routine postings and redeployment in the Nigerian military, Major Abubakar Abdullahi was posted as coordinator Joint Media Campaign Centre (JMCC) Operation DELTA SAFE.

Therefore performing the role of the Operation’s spokesman. He assumed office last week. Prior to his appointment, Major Abdullahi served in different capacity across the country as military PR and information manager. He is a member of Nigerian Institutes of Public Relations.

The new coordinator took over from Lieutenant Colonel Olaolu Marcellinus Daudu who was redeployed to serve as Deputy Director Army Public Relations at 81 Division Nigerian Army, Lagos.

During the handing and taking over held at Headquarters Operations DELTA SAFE, Igbogene Yenagoa, the outgone coordinator expresed his gratitude to the press community in Niger Delta region as well as everyone that supported his successful tenure of duty.

Lieutenant Colonel Daudu appealed for continued cooperation and support to the new spokesman to enable him perform effectively in line with the mandate of Operation DELTA SAFE ” To Protect Oil and Gas Infrastructure and Deter/Prevent Militancy, Sea Robbery, Crude Oil Theft and Other forms of Criminality Within the Joint Operations Area – that Could Impact Negatively on Economic Activities in Niger Delta”.

Troops of Operation Delta Safe have arrested 24 suspected operators of illegal refineries and oil bunkering in the creeks of Niger Delta and dismantled 13 illegal refineries.
