CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL FRENCH TEACHERS DAY ! 🇫🇷

Dear NAFT members,
As part of the celebration of International French Teachers Day, we invite you to participate in a special activity!

TRANSLATE THE AKWA IBOM STATE ANTHEM TO FRENCH AND SING IT!
We are looking for volunteers to translate the Akwa Ibom State anthem to French and create a video of themselves singing it. This is a great opportunity to show your love for the French language and your pride for Akwa Ibom State!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
1. Translate the Akwa Ibom State anthem to French.
2. Record a video of yourself singing the translated anthem.
3. Share the video on our WhatsApp platform or upload it on your social media platform and share the link with us.
4. Videos with the best translation would be shared on our social media with the hashtag

The Nigeria Association of French Teachers (NAFT), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, actively participated in the 2025 NAFT Teacher of the Year Competition with remarkable enthusiasm and excellence.
Four distinguished French teachers — Annie Bassey, Uduak Isaac, Julie Akpanekong, and Faith Etim — submitted their presentation videos showcasing their teaching skills within the provided timeframe of 90 minutes.
After careful evaluation by the state judges, Mrs. Annie Bassey emerged as the State Winner of the competition. She was officially recognized and presented with a cash award of Fifty Thousand Naira (₦50,000) on October 24, 2025. Her winning video will now represent Akwa Ibom State at the national level of the NAFT Teacher of the Year Competition, where she will compete alongside other outstanding teachers from across Nigeria.
In another major event, on October 30, 2025, NAFT Akwa Ibom State, in collaboration with the French Language Centre, Uyo, organized an Interschool French Competition. The event brought together pupils and students from both primary and secondary schools across the state.
Participants demonstrated their linguistic creativity and cultural understanding by performing short French plays interpreting the ARISE Agenda of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, Ph.D., Governor of Akwa Ibom State. The competition aimed to promote French language learning while connecting it to local governance and development ideals.
Several schools showcased outstanding performances, and at the end of the keenly contested event, three schools emerged as winners, receiving recognition and prizes for their efforts.The schools were, *Methodist Secondary school, Ibiaku Issiet, Uruan* (1st position), *Radiant Hills Academy, Ikot Ekpene Udo, Nsit Ubium* (2nd position) and *The Apostolic Church Model School, Uyo* (3rd position).
These activities reflect NAFT’s continued commitment to enhancing French language education, celebrating teacher excellence, and encouraging students to engage creatively with the language.
NAFT Akwa Ibom State extends appreciation to all teachers, students, and partners, especially the French Language Centre, Uyo , for their invaluable support in making these events a success.

The winner of the NAFT Teacher of the Year competition in Akwa Ibom State was awarded $50,000 on October 24, 2025. The award was presented by the Director and Coordinator of French Projects in Akwa Ibom State.

Joyeux mois d'octobre et bonne fête de l'Indépendance à tous les membres de NAFT Akwa Ibom ! 🎉🎊
En ce jour de réflexion sur notre indépendance nationale, nous formulons des vœux pour un avenir radieux, où stabilité et prospérité règnent en souveraines. Puisse ce nouveau mois nous apporter espoir renouvelé, résilience et détermination pour relever nos défis avec courage.
Nous souhaitons particulièrement que nos dirigeants fassent preuve de sagesse en considérant les implications à long terme de l'enseignement facultatif du français dans les écoles. Pour ceux d'entre nous touchés par cette décision, notamment les collègues ayant perdu leur emploi dans les écoles privées, nous espérons qu'ils trouveront rapidement de nouvelles opportunités et un soutien durant cette transition.
Que notre voix collective soit entendue et que nous puissions continuer à défendre avec passion et conviction l'importance de l'enseignement de la langue française pour l'avenir de notre nation. 🙏🇳🇬 * * * *
