SPOILS OF GREED
A day comes when all spoils of greed,
In heaps of ruin; be tossed as dross.
How cheap can you be?
How low can you get?
Name your price!
We may think, by the results you flaunt,
You're worth the weight;
But you fall so short,
As stale crumbs‐-worthless!
Greed has so reduced you,
Your face is beautified by shame,
Your heart is doused and cold,
Yet, yet, your pride wails with ignorance
Coz poverty has paved the path,
Hungry-bellied crowned you as king,
That's the slickest exchange
A portion of pottage for the birthright,
Esau is the reason you now smile!
O may your smile last!
For five-full-moon short of one,
Shall it?
For, honour hides when she hears your name
You have tried hardest to buy her heart,
But on her scale:
a fowl's feather weighs more!
Yet again, you put a front with con's stealth.
I saw the day you were born
Your mother held you in her arms
A message was sent to annouce your arrival
Yet something in your cradle cries
That echoed "Entitlement is here!"
Rode upon the back of wind...
that brought the news of your birth.
It was always there,
when you suckled your mother's breast.
It became your ally as you grew,
But as you found the path it led
You became dulled by it.
Yet you thought it made you smarter,
For the rewards it littered upon the way
Interestingly you have bought everything precious,
Yet unable to buy the fairest lady--Honour!
How would your lust learn restraint?
How would you know the limit,
Whatelse could stolen riches buy?
You're but a mere man
Yet have you felt invincible
"I have covered my tracks in the past"
you gleefully amuse yourself,
Bought a place with the strong and powerful;
Greed has paid you handsomely
So must life submit and slave for you,
You lie, you lie, you lie...!
A day comes when all spoils of greed,
In heaps of ruin;
Shall rot away as rag
In the bin of time.
You shall learn, the hard way!
At the final hour, as your life flashes by;
Like lightening before rumbling of thund'
Mammon wasn't to be served,
Might it be late then,
Might it be early now,
To seek a redress,
So you might find a paragraph
In the good books of history
When your account, to babes be retold.
For a day surely comes,
When all spoils of greed, lie shunned;
An awful stink, none can bear!
