APC ONNA CHAPTER HOSTS DR. EUNICE THOMAS AT CONSULTATIVE MEETING, AS STAKEHOLDERS EXPRESS STRONG SUPPORT
The All Progressives Congress (APC), ONNA Chapter, today held a consultative meeting at the Secondary School, IKot Ebiere, ONNA, which provided an opportunity for the foremost female aspirant for the House of Representatives, Dr. Eunice Samuel Thomas, to formally engage with the Chapter Executive and critical stakeholders of the party.
The meeting commenced with an opening prayer offered by Pastor Joseph Umoren, followed by a welcome address delivered by the Chapter Chairman, Comrade Tom Nkanang, who warmly received the aspirant and her entourage to ONNA and commended her for taking the bold step to consult the party at the grassroots.
Subsequently, the floor was opened for the aspirant, Dr. Eunice Thomas, to address the gathering. In her remarks, she expressed deep appreciation to the people of ONNA for the warm reception accorded her. She paid glowing tribute to the Political Leader of ONNA, Rt. Hon. Pat Ifon PhD., who previously served in the position she now seeks, describing him as a mentor and a source of inspiration.
Dr. Thomas acknowledged the contributions of past leaders of the constituency, noting that while the area has had good and even very good representation, there remains room for improvement. In her words, “we have had good leaders, very good leaders, but this time, we are going to have effective representation. I will raise the bar.”
She introduced herself to the people, stating: “My name is Eunice Samuel Thomas. I am a wife, the wife of Samuel Ekpenyong Thomas, a mother of four children, and a trained geologist.” She emphasized her identity as a unifier and assured the people of her readiness to deliver quality and impactful representation. According to her, “I am not learning on the job. It is a job I have been doing. I am fully equipped.”
She further assured the people that she understands past concerns about representation and pledged to provide comfort through effective service delivery. She also reiterated her commitment to empowering constituents across the federal constituency and called on the people of ONNA to support her aspiration.
The meeting featured goodwill messages from party leaders and stakeholders. The State Officer of the party, Mrs. Margaret Ita, noted that Dr. Eunice Thomas is the first female House of Representatives aspirant to visit the Chapter in this manner and expressed appreciation for her engagement. She offered prayers for her success.
Hon. Bassey Willie, in his remarks, expressed strong confidence in Dr. Thomas, stating his belief that her candidacy would yield positive results. He, however, charged her to remain committed to her promise of effective representation when elected.
Mr. Kingsley described Dr. Eunice Thomas as a marketable aspirant, noting that she is not difficult to present to the electorate. He urged her not to forget ONNA and offered prayers and encouragement for her success.
Hon. Thomas also spoke, encouraging the people of ONNA to rally behind Dr. Eunice Thomas, whom he described as a woman of proven integrity over the years.
The Political Leader of ONNA, Rt. Hon. Pat Ifon, who spoke as the final speaker, welcomed the aspirant and commended the Chapter Chairman for facilitating the consultative engagement. He assured Dr. Eunice Thomas of the support of the party and the people of ONNA, expressing confidence in her emergence as the next member representing the Federal Constituency. He further affirmed that ONNA people will fully accompany her on the journey to victory and prayed that God crowns the collective efforts.
The meeting witnessed the presence of notable party leaders and stakeholders, including Rt. Hon. Pat Ifon, Comrade Tom Nkanang, Rt. Hon. Charles Oton, Hon. Bassey Willie, Hon. Iniekpo Akpanekpo, Mrs. Margaret Ita, Hon. Elder Iniabasi Ekanem, Mrs. Rose, Chapter Executive Committee members, Ward Chairmen, Ward Personal Assistants, and the Forum of Elected Councillors.
Members of the visiting entourage included Dr. Eunice Thomas and Hon. Samuel Ekpenyong, among others.
The consultative meeting ended on a positive note, reinforcing unity, confidence, and growing support for the aspiration of Dr. Eunice Thomas within the APC family in ONNA. It is important to place on record that the meeting climaxed with her endorsement by the Political Leader of ONNA, Rt. Hon. Pat Ifon, who expressly stated that he exercised the authority bestowed on him by the party to affirm her as the preferred candidate, while assuring her of the unwavering support of the people throughout her journey.
