NYSC @ 53: Akwa Ibom Celebrates Legacy of National Unity and Development.

The National Youth Service Corps on Thursday, 22nd May 2026, celebrated its 53rd anniversary with notable activities nationwide.
In Akwa Ibom State, the State Coordinator, Ngozi Rosemary Akuagbaogu, in her address, described the Scheme as a veritable tool for national unity, integration, and development.
She noted that NYSC has made significant contributions to nation-building through Community Development Service (CDS) projects executed by Corps Members in their host communities. She also highlighted the impact of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme in promoting self-reliance, alongside the Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD), which provides free healthcare services to rural communities.
Activities marking the celebration included an anniversary walk by Corps Members and staff, as well as the cutting of the anniversary cake by the State Coordinator, staff and Corps members

NYSC STAFF AND CORPS MEMBERS IN AKWA IBOM ROLL OUT DRUMS TO CELEBRATE NYSC @ 53.

The State Coordinator, Mrs Akaugbaogu Ngozi Rosemary today led other staff and Corps members to mark the 53RD Anniversary of the Service Corps. The programme commenced with special prayers for the NYSC by representatives of Muslim Corps Members Association of Nigeria ( MCAN) and the Nigeria Christian Corpers Association ( NCCF).

Declaring the rally open, The State Coordinator thanked God for 53 fruitful years of rendered quality service in all the nooks and crannies of the nation.

She Commended the Director General for approving the anniversary nation - wide and thanked the staff and Corps members for coming out in their large numbers to participate in the anniversary rally. Additionally, she applauded the scheme for positively impacting the host communities in areas of education, health, Infrastructure and Agriculture among others.

She noted that the NYSC HIRD programme has continued to benefit rural communities by bringing free medical services to the rural areas where it is most needed. She further rated the scheme very high in participation in national programmes like election, Census, immunization and awareness creation, etc.

It was indeed a beautiful experience as staff and Corps members jubilated all the way. Highlights of the event were a rally from Federal Secretariat to State Secretariat complex, cutting of the anniversary cake and group photographs.

NOTIFICATION OF PHYSICAL VERIFICATION OF CREDENTIALS AND TRAVEL DOCUMENTS OF FOREIGN-TRAINED GRADUATES FOR THE 2026 BATCH ‘B’ STREAM I SERVICE YEAR.

This is to inform all Foreign Trained Nigerian Graduates whose credentials and travel documents are yet to be physically verified, should make themselves available for physical verification exercise scheduled to hold from Tuesday 2nd to Thursday 4th June, 2026 at the following chosen centers:
1. ENUGU: NYSC Secretariat, 2 Abakaliki Road, GRA, Enugu, Enugu State
2. BAUCHI: Shadawanka Military Barracks, Bauchi, Bauchi State
3. FCT: NYSC Orientation Camp, Kubwa, Abuja
4. KANO: Bukavu Military Barracks, Fagge, Airport Road, Kano, Kano State
5. LAGOS: NYSC Orientation Camp, Iyanapaja, Lagos, Lagos State
6. OSUN: NYSC Secretariat, New Ikirun Road, Osogbo, Osun State
7. RIVERS: NYSC Secretariat, 40 Ikwerre Road, Port-Harcourt, Rivers State
8. SOKOTO: Eagle Officers’ Mess, Giginya Cantonment, Gusau Road, Sokoto, Sokoto State
9. ADAMAWA: NYSC Secretariat, Federal Secretariat Complex, Yola, Adamawa State.

NOTE:
a. As part of the measures to ensure orderliness and avoid overcrowding, Prospective Corps Members are expected to strictly report on the date, time and venue specified on the verification slip.
b. They are to present all original credentials and travel documents as uploaded or expected to be uploaded online during registration.
c. Medical graduates should, in addition, upload Licenses, Registration Certificates and other relevant documents issued by their various bodies and also come along with the originals to the verification centers.
d. Original copies of Evaluation letters issued by the Federal Ministry of Education should be submitted at the NYSC Headquarters, Abuja and acknowledged copies upload online by the PCMs.
e. PCMs are to note that only persons physically seen with credentials, physically verified and cleared would be deployed, exempted or excluded from National Service.

AKWA IBOM NYSC HOLDS LOW-KEY PASSING-OUT CEREMONY FOR 2025 BATCH ‘A’ STREAM II CORPS MEMBERS

The 2025 Batch ‘A’
Stream II Corps Members in Akwa Ibom State today concluded their national service amidst a low-key passing-out ceremony observed nationwide.

Speaking at the event, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Ngozi Rosemary Akuagbaogu, represented by the Deputy Director, Corps Inspection and Monitoring, Mr. Ansalem Eilendemhinlim, congratulated the Corps Members and urged them to apply the lessons gained during service while embracing wealth creation opportunities through the SAED programme.

The issuance of Certificates of National Service was marked with excitement and fulfilment among the outgoing Corps Members despite the modest celebration.

2026 BATCH 'B' STREAM I ORIENTATION COURSE COMMENCES JUNE 10

The is to inform the general public that the 2026 Batch 'B' Stream I Orientation Course will commence with the reception and registration of Prospective Corps Members on Wednesday, 10th June 2026.

The registration will conclude at midnight of Friday, 12th June, 2026, in the 36 states and the FCT.

The Swearing-in Ceremony for the Prospective Corps Members mobilized for the 2026 Batch 'B' Stream I service year will hold on Friday, 12th June 2026.

Meanwhile, the Orientation Course will come to an end on Tuesday, 30th June, 2026.

The Management wishes the Nigerian graduates mobilized for the 2026 Batch 'B' Stream I service year safe journey to their various Orientation Camps across the country.

The Scheme also reiterates its warning against night travel.

Accordingly, Prospective Corps Members are advised to break their journeys once it’s 6.00pm, and pass the night at any available Corps Members' Lodge, military formation, police station/outpost or palace of a traditional ruler anywhere in the country, and then continue the following morning.
