Our objective for which this Council is established are:
I. To promote organized method of occupational safety and health in the nation and all her workplace and to advocate, advise upon, disseminate, explain and advance the principles, methods and systems of their application at work generally;. To minimize avoidable death and injury by devising, recognizing, encouraging and promoting methods and
procedures leading to improved safety, protection and health among all persons in public and private places throughout Nigeria. III. To assist in the drafting and enactment of safety legislation. To play an advisory role on all matters relating to its objective. V. To creates awareness on Occupational safety and Health through safety courses, workshops and seminars. VI. To prevent industrial accidents, hazards and promote occupational health, safety and welfare of people while at work, and those who will be affected by work being carried out around them. VII. To develop relationships with other government and non-government agencies and organizations, who share a common interest in the promotion of safe workplaces. VIII. To provide a meeting point for professional, government, employers and workers representatives to promote continuous improvement of health, safety and environment of workplaces. IX. To promote and support the development of safer products and services. X. To provide Occupational safety competency trainings to develop safety professionals. XI. Collaborate with stakeholders and professional bodies in the development and promotion of occupational health and safety. XII. To provide the opportunity for senior safety professionals to pass on their knowledge and experience to members. XIII. To provide members with continuous professional development opportunities. XIV. To train workers on prevention of accident and hazards by visiting industries/companies. XV. To Arranging seminars/courses for workers drawn from both Government and private establishment in furtherance of the objective of the council. XVI. To do all such other things as may be necessary or desirable for maintaining and improving the professional status of members of the Council and of persons engaged in professions requiring knowledge of the matters mentioned in Section (a) above in the interests of the general public benefit.
