REP. IME OKON FELICITATES IBIONO COUNCIL CHAIRMAN ASUAKAK UMOH ON BIRTHDAY

The Member representing Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Ime Bassey Okon, has extended warm birthday felicitations to the Executive Chairman of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. Asuakak Umoh, on the occasion of his birthday.

In a goodwill message, Rep. Ime Okon described the Council Chairman as a dedicated public servant whose commitment to grassroots development and the progress of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area continue to inspire confidence and admiration among the people.

The federal lawmaker noted that the leadership style of Rt. Hon. Umoh, marked by calmness, accessibility and people-centred governance, has positioned him as a worthy ambassador of Ibiono Ibom and a dependable partner in the collective pursuit of development.

According to Rep. Okon, the Council Chairman has demonstrated genuine passion for community growth and has remained steadfast in advancing the cause of good governance at the local level.

He commended Obong Asuakak Umoh for his contributions to the development of Ibiono Ibom and for sustaining efforts geared towards improving the welfare of the people.

Rep. Okon also prayed Almighty God to grant the Council Chairman sound health, renewed strength, wisdom and greater grace to continue serving the people with distinction.

Ibiono Ibom First Lady Visits Family of Triplets
..donates cash and gift items to newborn babies

As part of the routine social intervention and humanitarian services enshrined in the Rt. Hon. Obong Asuakak Umoh Eti-ini-Ukara administration, the wife of the Executive Chairman of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Mrs Etiemana Asuakak Umoh today, April 20 visited Mr and Mrs Kufre Essien Umanah of Nsan Village who recently welcomed a set of triplets, 2 girls and a boy

Represented by the Director of Social Development, Education, Information, Sport and Culture (SDEISC), Mrs Roseline Etukido, various items and cash were given to the family for the upkeep and care of the newborn babies.

The Director said that the First Family was moved by compassion and thanksgiving to God for His blessings when they received the call from the concerned individuals of the triplets last week and decided to visit the family to share in their joy.

She described the birth of the triplets as a blessing to the family and Ibiono Ibom in general, she prayed for good health and God's favour for the children and the family at large.

She noted that the First Lady’s gesture aligns with the GIFA project, which also focuses on the welfare of multiple birth children

Responding, the father of the triplet Mr. Kufre Umanah expressed his deep gratitude to the Chairman of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area and his dear wife for the visit

He described the Chairman and his wife as God-sent and a blessing to the Area and prayed for God’s guidance and blessings

IBIONO IBOM HOSTS OIL PALM TRAINING, CHAIRMAN COMMENDS GOV. UMO ENO’S AGRICULTURAL DRIVE

Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area on Friday, April 17, 2026 hosted a one-day training on modern oil palm cultivation techniques, organized in partnership with the Akwa Ibom Agricultural Development Programme (AKADEP), as part of efforts to boost agricultural productivity in the area.

The training, held at the Council Hall, Oko-Ita, drew participants from across the LGA, including registered oil palm farmers, agribusiness leaders, cooperative heads, and individual farmers, all eager to acquire improved knowledge and skills in oil palm production.

Representing the Executive Chairman of Ibiono Ibom LGA, Rt. Hon. Obong Asuakak Umoh, the Senior Adviser on Political Matters, Mr. Inyene Udeme, expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, for his deliberate commitment to revitalizing the oil palm industry and the broader agricultural sector through the ARISE Agenda.

He noted that the initiative aligns seamlessly with the development priorities of the Ibiono Ibom Local Government administration, particularly in empowering rural farmers, enhancing food security, and creating sustainable economic opportunities.

The AKADEP team, led by Elder Uwemedimo Anana, Director in charge of Agribusiness, delivered practical sessions on best practices in oil palm nursery management, seedling handling, and modern cultivation techniques aimed at improving yield and profitability. Participants also engaged in interactive discussions, gaining clarity on key aspects of oil palm production.

The Council reaffirmed its commitment to supporting agricultural initiatives and providing an enabling environment for farmers to thrive, while encouraging participants to apply the knowledge gained for increased productivity.

The successful turnout and active participation at the training underscore the growing interest in agriculture as a viable pathway for economic growth and self-reliance in Ibiono Ibom LGA.

Grassroots Development: Ibiono Ibom Council Chairman Bags Awards

The Ibiaku Clan Council in Ibiono Ibom local government area has conferred a chieftaincy title of ' Ubok Udom Ibiaku Ekpad Ukpa' and Award of Confidence on the Executive Chairman of Ibiono Ibom local government council, Rt. Hon. Asuakak Umoh. The event took place in the Chairman's office at the Council Secretariat, Oko-Ita.

Presenting the Awards on behalf of the Ibiaku Clan Council, the Group Head, His Highness Obong Joseph Jimmy Akpan, declared that the twin awards were their token of appreciation for their son, who has made them proud due to his numerous achievements as Chairman of the Council.

According to the royal father, we have come here to sincerely thank you for all that you are doing to add value to the lives of our people since your assumption as the Chairman of our local government council. I must say on behalf of the Ibiaku Clan Council that we are very proud of your achievements."

He went further to appreciate the Chairman for consciously interpreting and domesticating the ARISE Agenda of His Excellency Pastor Umo Bassey Eno for the well-being of the people of the area, and specifically mentioned: building and furnishing of a befitting chambers for Ibiono Ibom Traditional Rulers Council with beautiful landscape and access road, restoring light to various communities, grading of rural roads, boosting healthcare delivery, support to students, youth empowerment, welfare supports to the elderly and also promoting peace and unity in the area through integrative leadership approach.

The royal father pledged the continuous support of the Clan Council to the local government administration and the state government under the leadership of Governor Umo Bassey Eno.

Responding, Rt. Hon. Obong Asuakak Umoh expressed his appreciation to the members of the Ibiaku Clan Council for the honours. He stated ''I accept these awards with humility, taking cognizance of the fact that, it is call to more service to our people, I want to assure you that this recognition is a booster that will continue to challenge me to redouble my efforts to provide opportunities, safe environment and supportive infrastructure that our people will take advantage to improve their economic well-being."

He charged the royal fathers to use their offices to promote peace in their various communities and ensure that infrastructure provided by the government in their domains is protected against vandalism, reminding them that the state Governor has promised to hold village heads accountable for every facility stolen or destroyed in their communities.

The Chairman dedicated the award to the people of the area for their cooperation and support and thanked the state Governor for providing an enabling environment that has helped him in his modest achievements.

The event had in attendance, members of the Ibiaku Clan Council, youth leaders, women leaders and prominent stakeholders from the clan including Barr. Edet Ikotidem, Hon. Effiong Ukapbio, Comrade Etetim Ukpong, Ukai Edem Ita among others.

The Executive Chairman of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. Obong Asuakak Umoh has flagged off the construction of a culvert project at Etak Ikot, Okopedi Use Ikot Oku Village, with a view to providing the community with relief from river encroachment as the rainy season approaches.

Flagging off the project the Executive Chairman re-echoed his administration's resolve to embark on life-changing projects that benefit communities directly. He described the community as one of the food baskets of Ward 1 in Ibiono Ibom and as such deserves a good access road to aid their trade.

According to Umoh, the Culvert project is one out of the four campaign promises he made to the people which 3 have been handled. He assured that the project would be completed in one month

While performing the groundbreaking ceremony, the Chairman reiterated Governor Umo Eno’s love for Ibiono Ibom Local Government and informed the community of the location of one of the state government water intervention projects per ward at Use Ikot Oku Okopedi

He appealed to the people of Etak Ikot, Ikot Itam and Okopedi Use Ikot Oku to support the re-election of the President, Governor and APC in 2027

Giving the project overview, the Director of Works, Engr. Isemin Isemin described it as a standard construction of ”a reinforced concrete box culvert(RCBC) with an internal dimension of 6.50 metre span x 2.00 meter rise and length to suit roadway width complete with Reinforced Concrete, Head walls, Wing walls. Apron Slab and Stone-Pitched (RIPRAP) Outlet protection”

Also speaking, the Leader of the Ibiono Ibom 8th Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Idorenyin Umoren who is also a son of the community where the project is sited thanked the Chairman for keeping to his campaign promises and promised to massively mobilise his people to vote for APC come 2027

The event was attended by all Councillors, Supervisors, HOLGS and Directors, APC Chapter leadership, traditional rulers, community stakeholders, women and youths.
