31/01/2026
On the 30th day of January, 2026, a plenary session of the House was successfully convened, marking a significant milestone in our legislative activities. The session was graced by the presence of key stakeholders, including the Chief Whip of the Student Union, 9th Senate, Distinguished Senator Ephraim Etim (OTR), who attended in person, as well as the President of the Faculty. Their presence greatly enriched the deliberations and underscored the importance of the session.
During the plenary, detailed reports were presented by the committee chairmen across all committees, highlighting the activities carried out, progress made, and responsibilities discharged since we assumed office. These reports provided members with a clear overview of the work done so far and reaffirmed our collective commitment to service, accountability, and effective leadership.
A major highlight of the plenary was the proposed budget presentation, which totaled ₦42,195,000. During deliberations, necessary corrections and observations were duly noted, after which the budget was adopted by the House members. This adoption, coming as part of our first official meeting, set the tone for transparency, fiscal responsibility, and purposeful governance.
The session was presided over by the Speaker, with the presence of other principal officers and legislative members, making the plenary robust, engaging, and productive. Members contributed meaningfully to discussions, reflecting unity, maturity, and a shared vision for progress.
As a legislative body, we remain resolute in our commitment to effective representation, accountability, and policies that drive development. The plenary of the 30th of January, 2026 stands as a strong foundation for the work ahead.
The work continues.
