RELAX, TINUBU IS FIXING NIGERIA: A CALL FOR PATIENCE AS SUPPORT GROUP SETS SIGHTS ON 2027
By Eneojo Herbert Idakwo
In Nigeria’s restless political environment, patience is often scarce. Citizens face rising living costs, businesses struggle with uncertainty, and many voters want quick results from government policies. Yet a growing support movement around President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is asking Nigerians to take a longer view.
The message is simple. The country is undergoing deep reforms that may cause discomfort now but are intended to produce stability and growth in the years ahead.
At a recent strategy meeting in Abuja, members of the support group Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria (RTIFN) met with Ayodele Olawande and Seyi Tinubu. Their discussion focused on one central goal. How to sustain public confidence in the administration’s reform programme while increasing the involvement of young Nigerians in governance.
Participants at the meeting believe the 2027 election will largely depend on whether Nigerians accept the argument that the country must stay the course.
Nigeria as a Patient Under Treatment
Supporters of the administration often use a simple illustration to explain their position. They say the government inherited a weak and troubled economy in 2023.
According to them, Nigeria was like a sick patient that required urgent treatment. Tough decisions such as the removal of fuel subsidies and changes in the foreign exchange system were described as strong medicine rather than punishment.
In their view, the policies were necessary to stabilise public finances and restore confidence in the economy.
Members of the support group also point to infrastructure projects as early signs of progress. Road construction across major corridors of the country has been cited as an example of government investment aimed at improving trade and mobility.
They also highlight the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, known as NELFUND, which provides interest free loans to students in tertiary institutions. Advocates say the programme gives many young Nigerians access to education that would otherwise be beyond their reach.
Supporters argue that these efforts should be seen as steps toward long term recovery.
The Argument for Patience
A major theme in the group’s message is patience. They believe Nigeria’s economic challenges were built over many decades and cannot disappear in a few years.
From their perspective, reforms must be allowed time to work.
Some government officials share this view. They argue that continuity in policy will allow ongoing projects and economic adjustments to mature.
Within this context, supporters are preparing a publication that documents what they describe as hundreds of achievements recorded within the administration’s first thirty months in office. The booklet is intended to present a clearer account of government activities to the public.
For the group, the aim is to counter the perception that little progress has been made.
Youth Participation and Political Mobilisation
Another important part of the movement’s strategy is youth engagement.
The presence of Seyi Tinubu (Founder in Chief) and the Minister of Youth Development at the Abuja meeting reflects a deliberate effort to involve young Nigerians in political and economic conversations.
Through outreach programmes, youth gatherings and business support activities, the support group seeks to position young people as partners in the national development agenda.
Supporters say the goal is not simply to recruit voters but to encourage a new generation to take part in governance and enterprise.
The group led by its National Coordinator, Honourable Ahmed Bala, has also expanded its activities across different regions of Nigeria. From the North Central zone to the South East, coordinators have been appointed to organise community engagement programmes and discussions around national development.
A strong International delegation is currently on outreach. The Delegation led by national Secretary H.E.Felix Arome is currently on a visit to the United Kingdom to build links with Nigerians in the diaspora and strengthen diplomatic engagement between Nigeria and Britain as preparatory ground for the President Tinubu s visit.
Looking Ahead to 2027
For the supporters of President Tinubu, the 2027 election will serve as a public judgment on the reform process now ongoing.
They believe the choice before Nigerians will be straightforward. Either the country continues along the path of economic restructuring or it returns to old policies that many critics blame for past instability.
In the coming months, supporters plan to intensify grassroots campaigns that explain government policies and encourage citizens to see the reforms as part of a longer national rebuilding effort.
Nigerians are known for their political awareness and will ultimately judge the administration by its results.
Yet for those behind the movement, the message remains consistent. Reform requires endurance, and national recovery rarely happens overnight.
As the political road to 2027 slowly begins to take shape, their appeal to the public remains direct and emphatic.
