NOTIFICATION FOR THE OCTOBER 2023 PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE COMPETENCE EXAMINATIONS (PPCE)
Applications are hereby invited from candidates who fall under any of the categories below and wish to be pre-qualified for the - OCTOBER 2023 PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE COMPETENCE EXAMINATIONS (PPCE). This is in line with Section 7(5) (c), Section 11 (1) and other supplementary provisions of the Architects (REGISTRATION, E.T.C) ACT, Chapter A19
The Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
I. REQUIREMENTS:
1. Candidates must have had a minimum of two years supervised post-graduation practice by March 2023 (NYSC year included).
2. Candidates who have passed the ARCON Regularisation Programme (ARP) and NIA Finals II Examinations with a minimum of two years supervised post-graduation practice by March 2023.
3. Prospective applicants with foreign qualifications must ensure that their degrees qualify for full registration by the professional regulatory body in the country of study with a minimum of 2 years supervised post-graduation practice.
4. Applicants who had earlier successfully pre-qualified for any of the previous APCE programmes but did not proceed with the programme.
5. Candidates with references in the previous ARCON APCE and NIA PPE.
6. Prospective candidates in all cases must be Nigerians and must be currently resident in Nigeria and currently fully involved in the practice of Architecture under the supervision of an Architect who is financial and fully registered with the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria to practice Architecture in the Federal Republic of Nigeria with a minimum of five (5) years post-registration experience. Projects supervised under this category must be 5 years post registration of the supervisor.
8. Please note that only sighted copies of original certificates, by ARCON Council members 2017 to 2021, would be accepted for this application.
9. Applicants who do not have a minimum 5 credits in Mathematics, English Language, Physics and any other 2 subjects need not apply as their applications would be stepped down.
10. Candidates must accompany their application forms with a copy of the current Practice Licenses of their sponsors and referees.
11. All submissions must be within the deadline of submission as late submission would not be entertained.
II. METHOD OF APPLICATION-
Applicants must fall under only ONE of the categories as stated below:
a. FRESH APPLICATIONS
This category applies to only applicants that have never attempted the Professional Practice Competence Examination.
Examination Date Tuesday 17th – Thursday 19th, October, 2023 .
1. All candidates are to fill the PPCE application form online via the ARCON website at www.arconigeria.gov.ng or NIA website at www.nia.ng. (Candidates who have earlier applied via the APCE and NIA PPE need not reapply).
2. JPEG format recent coloured passport photograph taken against a white background must be uploaded along with scanned copies of all relevant educational certificates including –
I. WASC/WAEC or equivalent certificates. Statement of results are not accepted.
ii. B.Sc/B.Tech/B.E.S.(Arch) and M.Sc./M.Tech/M.E.D (Arch) or their equivalent degrees
iii. NYSC Participation or Exemption certificates.
3. Affidavit for discrepancies in names or other particulars (if any) on certificates.
4. Current Practice License(s) of your supervisors/mentors/ referees CANDIDATES WHO HAD EARLIER APPLIED THROUGH THE LAST ADVERTISED APCE BY ARCON AND NIA PPE NEED NOT APPLY AGAIN.
b. REFERRED CANDIDATES
1. Fill the PPCE Application Forms for referred Candidates from the ARCON website- www.arconigeria.gov.ng
2. Attach a copy of your ACP/APCE/NIA PPE Application Letter earlier mailed to you. Your application letter indicates your examination number as proof of pre-qualification.
c. REFERRED CANDIDATES
Candidates with references in the NIA-PPE examinations up until March 2016 and candidates with references from the ARCON/NIA verification exercise for the September 2016, March 2017 and September 2017 examinations.
d. CANDIDATES WHO HAD PASSED NIA FINALS I AND II UP UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2017 SHOULD APPLY FOR PPCE OCTOBER 2023.
Examination Date Tuesday 17th – Thursday 19th, October, 2023 .
1. Fill the PPCE Application Forms for referred Candidates from the ARCON website- www.arconigeria.gov.ng
2. Attach a copy of your letter of invitation for the NIA-PPE examinations earlier received from NIA Secretariat. Your application letter indicates your programme number as proof of pre-qualification.
5. REGISTRATION FEE i. A non-refundable:
a. Application fee of =N=20,000.00 (Twenty Thousand Naira)
b. Examination fee of One Hundred And Fifty Thousand Naira Only (N150,000.00) is to be paid online after pre - qualification, and
c. Examination preparatory seminar fees of Thirty Thousand Naira Only (N30,000.00) which would hold through seminar/webinar on September 27, 2023. Only eligible candidates will be allowed to pay for the seminar/webinar and PPCE fee.
All payments should be made to the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) Treasury Single Account (TSA) with the Central Bank of Nigeria after generating your RRR number for payment through the Remita platform www.remita.net
III. DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION
The online application portal will automatically shut down on Monday September 11, 2023
