With the reintroduction of history to schools, the students of Tobi international school, Jericho, Ibadan visited the National Archives of Nigeria Ibadan to get first hand historical education about their country Nigeria. Some of the materials on display are:
First published newspaper in Nigeria (1859)
First published daily times Newspaper (1924)
Old Nigerian currencies
to mention but a few.

Hello folks, we welcome you all to the year 2018, we are quite sorry that the year 2017 wasn't an eventful year on this platform as expected to be, but we assure you that this year will be quite different and very eventful. We promise to keep you guys informed on all archival activities in Nigeria and beyond, continue to disseminate valuable historic information and update you guys from time to time happenings and opportunities within the archival community. We wish you all a wonderful and prosperous 2018.

QUICK UPDATES

i The National Archives of Nigeria now has a new man at the helms of affair in the person of Mr. Fer Dabring. He replaced the retired director Mr. Odimboro Umar. Mr. Fer Daring is now the Ag Director National Archives of Nigeria. We use this medium to wish the retired Director success in his future endeavors.

ii. The Society of Nigerian Archivists has also change the leadership baton. A new president emerged during the society's 2017 convention held in Abuja. Prof. Olutayo Adesina is now the society’s president. The baton was passed to him by the out gone president of the society Prof. Olubunmi Alegbeleye. Prof. Olutayo Adesina is with the department of History University of Ibadan and also serves as the Director General Studies unit of the same institution of higher learning. We wish him a fruitful tenure as he steers the affairs of society.

iii. The National Archives Ibadan Zonal office continues with her annual tradition of celebrating the archives profession with the “Be an Archivist a day “ program. This program seek to educate and inform the children & youths on the importance of the Archives and the efforts the custodians (Archivists) has continuously made to keep the Nation’s documentary heritage intact.

iv. The International Council on Archives 2018 conference will be holding in Cameroon. Archivists and record Managers are enjoined to attend this year’s conference as it will hold on the continent.

Be an Archivist a day" children"s day event is an initiative of National Archives of Nigeria to sensitize the public on the efforts the custodians of Archives "Archivist" has continously made to keep the Nation's Memory intact for the past 6 decades by celebrating the profession with children. The maiden edition of the program was held on 27th of May,2016@ National Archives South west Zonal office Ibadan.

Degree in geography from Ahmadu Bello University and a M.Sc. Degree in archival studies from University of Ibadan, Mr Umar is married with children.
