The Director of the National Orientation Agency, Abia State Directorate, Comrade Victor Onyeanwuna Orji, has called on parents and guardians to instill positive values in children as part of activities marking this year’s Children’s Day celebration.

In his message to the press, Comrade Orji emphasized that the National Orientation Agency, under the leadership of Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, is responsible for communicating government policies, programmes, and activities to citizens at the federal, state, and local government levels. He noted that one of the core mandates of the Agency is value reorientation, especially among children and youths.

According to him, children are highly impressionable and are shaped by the words, actions, and environment around them. He urged parents to use the occasion of Children’s Day to teach children enduring values such as empathy, respect, honesty, resilience, and hard work.

Comrade Orji stated that society’s most important responsibility is not only to prepare the path for children but also to prepare children for the path ahead. He described children as “the living messages we send to a future we may not see” and stressed the need to raise a generation of compassionate and responsible leaders.

He congratulated children and parents on the celebration and prayed for God’s blessings upon all families.

The Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA) Abia State Directorate, Comrade Victor Orji, was invited as a Special Guest by the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Abia State Chapter, Mr. Smith O. Sylvanus, to deliver a goodwill message during the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected NYCN Local Government Executives held on 13th May 2026 in Umuahia. In his welcome remarks, the NYCN Chairman appreciated the presence of the NOA Director and other dignitaries, while urging the newly inaugurated executives to uphold responsibility, unity, and commitment in the discharge of their duties.

Speaking on the theme “Building Character and Responsibility in Today’s Society,” Comrade Victor Orji highlighted seven core values necessary for nation building and personal development: discipline, duty of care, tolerance and respect, leadership, transparency, environmental awareness, and resilience. He emphasized that these values are practical principles that shape individuals, institutions, and society, urging the youth to embrace integrity, accountability, peaceful coexistence, and environmental responsibility as pathways to sustainable development and effective leadership.

The NOA Director further used the occasion to advocate for peaceful political participation ahead of the forthcoming 2027 general elections, stressing the Agency’s campaign for “election without bitterness.” He advised youths across the state not to allow themselves to be used as instruments of violence, division, or instability, but instead to become ambassadors of peace and national unity. The event ended with appreciation to all stakeholders and a renewed commitment by the newly inaugurated executives to promote responsible leadership and youth development in Abia State.

The Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Abia State Directorate, Comrade Victor Orji, was among the key stakeholders at the State Consultative Meeting on the 2026 Implementation Plan of the National Action Plan (NAP) for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights in Nigeria.

The programme was organised by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in collaboration with CONRAD Educational Limited on May 13, 2026, in Umuahia.

In her opening remarks on behalf of the Executive Secretary of NHRC, Dr. Tony Ojukwu, the Abia State Coordinator of NHRC, Mrs. Uche Nwokocha, stressed that the synergy between Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) reflects a shared commitment to strengthening collaboration, promoting accountability, and ensuring that the principles of justice and equality are upheld across all sectors of society.

She explained that the National Action Plan serves as a guiding framework for the promotion and protection of human rights in Nigeria, in line with the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action adopted at the World Conference on Human Rights held in Vienna, Austria, in 1993.

During her lecture, Mrs. Nwokocha highlighted the roles of MDAs and CSOs in the implementation of the NAP and outlined strategies for achieving its objectives.

In his remarks, the NOA State Director, Comrade Victor Orji, assured participants of the Agency’s readiness and capacity to carry out grassroots sensitisation on human rights issues through its Community Orientation and Mobilisation Officers (COMOs). He noted that the initiative would help take human rights awareness to communities and provide channels for reporting cases of abuse to the NHRC.

NOA ZONAL DIRECTOR VISITS ABIA STATE DIRECTORATE.

The South East Zonal Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mrs. Theresa Maduekwe, on Thursday, May 7, 2026, paid a courtesy and familiarisation visit to the NOA Abia State Directorate Office in Umuahia, accompanied by members of staff from the South East Zonal Office.

She was received by the State Director, Comrade Victor Orji, alongside members of staff of the Directorate, who warmly welcomed her to the state.

During the visit, Mrs. Maduekwe reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to strengthening national unity, civic responsibility, and value reorientation across the South East Zone. She described the South East as a region known for enterprise, resilience, and unity, while emphasizing the need for sustained peace-building, civic education, and stronger engagement between government and citizens. According to her, the NOA remains focused on promoting patriotism, countering misinformation, and encouraging active citizen participation in national development.

The Zonal Director highlighted three key priorities of the South East Directorate: promoting peace and national unity, preparing citizens for peaceful and credible participation in the 2027 general elections, and advancing the National Identity Project through the National Value Charter and the “7 for 7” campaign.

Mrs. Maduekwe also commended the dedication and professionalism of NOA staff across the zone and called on governments, stakeholders, and citizens to work collaboratively towards building a peaceful, responsible, and united South East that would serve as a model for the rest of the country.

The interactive session provided staff members the opportunity to raise concerns relating to staff welfare, dwindling workforce strength, future recruitment plans, the inauguration and integration of the Citizens Value Brigade into NOA activities, and the exclusion of the zone from recent foreign training opportunities. Appeals were also made for the renovation and furnishing of office facilities. In response, Mrs. Maduekwe assured staff that their concerns would be communicated to the Director-General of the Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu.

In his remarks, the State Director, Comrade Victor Orji, appreciated the immediate past Zonal Director, Mrs. Regina Iroha, for her commitment and efforts that led to the establishment of the South East Zonal Office in Abia State. He also expressed gratitude to the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, for his continued support towards the growth and development of the Agency in the state.

The visit ended on a lively and interactive note, further strengthening the bond between the Zonal Directorate and staff of the Abia State Directorate.

NYSC BATCH A STREAM II REORIENTATION LECTURE

The Director of National Orientation Agency NOA Abia State Directorate Comrade Victor Orji was represented by the Deputy Director HRM of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Abia State Directorate, Mr. Kingsley Igwe, where he delivered a lecture on National Value Reorientation to 2026 Batch A Stream II corps members at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp on April 30 and May 1.

Speaking on the theme “Building Character and Responsibility in Today’s Society,” he highlighted seven core values essential for personal growth and national development: discipline, duty of care, tolerance and respect, leadership, transparency, environmental awareness, and resilience. He emphasized that these values are practical principles that shape behavior, strengthen institutions, and promote unity.

Mr. Igwe encouraged corps members to embody discipline through self-control and consistency, uphold duty of care by acting responsibly toward others, and practice tolerance and respect in Nigeria’s diverse society. He stressed that leadership begins at every level, transparency builds trust, environmental awareness safeguards the future, and resilience enables individuals to overcome challenges.

He concluded by urging the corps members to live out these values daily, noting that meaningful societal change begins with individual actions.

ABIA INAUGURATES SPORTS ASSOCIATION BOARD

The Governor of Abia State, Alex Chioma Otti, represented by Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu, has inaugurated the Board of the Abia State Sports Associations, reaffirming government’s commitment to youth development, talent discovery, and grassroots sports advancement.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Nwaobilor Ananaba, charged members to reposition the sector through innovation, transparency, and teamwork. He emphasized the need to strengthen grassroots programmes, improve athlete welfare, and attract partnerships to complement government funding. Other stakeholders, including Bernard Ezema and Obioma George, commended the initiative and urged the board to remain accountable and committed to excellence.

A total of 35 members were inaugurated across various sports associations. Notably, Victor O. Orji, Director of the National Orientation Agency, Abia State Directorate, was among the appointees, further strengthening collaboration in advancing sports and youth development in the state.

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Abia State Directorate paid an advocacy visit to the Senior Special Adviser on Transport, Umuahia North LGA Chief Uchenna Umukwe (The Akaraka Ibeku) in his residence at Isieke Ibeku. In his address, the Director of NOA Abia State Directorate, Comrade Victor O. Orji, recognised and acknowledged his philanthropic gestures, selfless services and his commitment in community development and shaping the future of citizens.
Chief Uchenna Umekwe was honoured as the Patron of the Citizens Value Brigade CVB because of his roles as well as the outstanding impact he has created in the society. Comrade Orji urged him help the Brigade creates a multiplier effect capable of positively shaping the lives of many young people. The State Director Comrade Orji also used the opportunity to promote the “Election without Bitterness” campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections. He emphasised the importance of peaceful political participation, urging citizens to reject violence, hate speech, and electoral malpractice. But instead embrace peaceful participation, tolerance, and issue-based engagement in the electoral process.

On Tuesday, 14th April 2026, the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Abia State Directorate, hosted a delegation from the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) on a sensitisation visit aimed at guiding staff on the proper procedures for completing the Assets Declaration Form, a mandatory requirement for civil servants.

The session was comprehensive and insightful, providing clear, step-by-step guidance on the declaration process. It recorded significant success, with the State Director, Comrade Victor Orji, members of the management team, staff of the state directorate, and representatives from all Local Government Areas in attendance.

REPORT ON THE ABIA YOUTHS EXTRAORDINARY CONVENTION ORGANISED BY PROGRESSIVE ABIA YOUTHS (PAY)

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Abia State Directorate, ably represented by the Director, Comrade Victor O. Orji, participated in the Abia Youths Extraordinary Convention organised by Progressive Abia Youths (PAY), an NGO founded by Mr. Daberechi Ekejiuba. The event, held on Friday, 10th April 2026 at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, was themed “Reimagining Governance: Youth Leadership, Technology and Sustainable National Development.” The convention brought together key stakeholders, youth leaders, and development partners to deliberate on the critical role of young people in governance and nation-building.

The event featured the representative of the Executive Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, in the person of Sir Nwaobilor Ananaba, Honourable Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development. The convention was chaired by Dr. Chima Desmond Anyaso and had in attendance several prominent stakeholders, including the Director of NOA Abia State. The programme also featured insightful panel sessions led by seasoned discussants who addressed issues bordering on youth inclusion in governance, the use of technology as a tool for development, and strategies for achieving sustainable national growth.

In his goodwill message, the NOA Director commended PAY for its commitment to youth mobilisation, civic responsibility, and community development. REPORT ON THE PARTICIPATION OF THE NATIONAL ORIENTATION AGENCY (NOA), ABIA STATE DIRECTORATE AT THE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2026 CONFERENCE AND 4TH ANNIVERSARY OF SIEDI-HUB

The Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Abia State Directorate, Comrade Victor O. Orji, attended the International Women’s Day 2026 Conference and 4th Anniversary of SieDi-Hub as the Special Guest of Honour.

In his address, the Director delivered a goodwill message in which he commended SieDi-Hub for its outstanding contributions to social justice, women empowerment, youth development, and community advancement across Abia State. He noted that the organization, within a short period, has established itself as a dynamic platform promoting inclusive development through impactful initiatives such as capacity building, advocacy, microcredit support, safe spaces, and educational programs for adolescents.

Comrade Orji highlighted that the activities of SieDi-Hub align closely with the mandate of NOA, particularly in promoting civic responsibility, national values, and sustainable development. He further applauded the leadership of the organization, especially the Founder, Dr. Chinasa Imo, and the Programs Manager, Mr. Paul Lord Okpara, for their vision and commitment to societal transformation.

Beyond the goodwill message, the NOA Director utilized the opportunity to sensitise the audience on the Agency’s ongoing campaign on “Election Without Bitterness” ahead of the 2027 General Elections. He emphasized the importance of peaceful political participation, tolerance, issue-based campaigns, and respect for democratic processes.
