Rep. Umaru, Other Lawmakers Attend Senator Ewuga’s Funeral In Alushi

Rep. Jeremiah Umaru and other members of the National Assembly from Nasarawa State attended the funeral of Senator Solomon Ewuga at his hometown in Alushi, Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the State.

He joined other mourners from across the country for the burial shortly after returning from Johannesburg, South Africa.

Earlier, the funeral service held at the Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ (ERCC) had in attendance former Governors of Nasarawa State, Senator Abdullahi Adamu (Turakin Keffi) and Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.

Other dignitaries who also attended the funeral service include Governor Abdullahi Sule and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda who paid glowing tribute to the deceased.

Senator Ewuga, one of the founding fathers of Nasarawa State died on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the age of 70 in Cairo, Egypt, where he had gone for medical attention.

The deceased had served as Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State and Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He also represented Nasarawa North in the 7th National Assembly, where he contributed meaningfully to national discourse.

Today, Tanzanians are electing a new President for a five-year term. In that ballot paper there's only one candidate: Samia Suluhu Hassan.

Her regime has succesfully launched a repressive campaign against the opposition, journalists, civil society and human rights defenders. Any threat to her poltical victory was severely neutralised. On 6 September, Mr Ali Kibao, a high ranking member of the Chadema party, was abducted by security agents and viciously murdered. The post-mortem found that Mr Kibao was brutaly beaten and then acid was poured on his face as part of his torture. The lucky ones are languishing in prison without charge.

The quality of her ruthlessness has shocked the peaceful people of Tanzania. After enjoying so many years of democratic stability, the citizens were not ready for the rude awakening that mama Suluhu unleashed on them. The land of Julius Kambarage Nyerere is no more. The man-eater tigress of Zanzibar is on the prowl.

So, I cringe when people say: "A woman President is incapable of being evil. Only men can be evil". That is not true. All humans regardless of s*x, colour or creed are capable of evil.
