STATEMENT ON THE CURRENT STATE OF AFFAIRS
Dear Esteemed Supporters, Friends and Associates,
We extend our warmest appreciation to each and every one of you for your support, commitment, and belief in the vision and capacity of Barr. Nuhu Muhammad Talib to lead Suleja Local Government into a new era of progress, accountability, and inclusive development.
It is a matter of public record that Barr. Talib formally declared his intention to contest for the office of Chairman, Suleja Local Government Council, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In line with the party’s procedures, he purchased the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, embarked on extensive consultations and grassroots mobilization, and successfully underwent the screening process, after which he was cleared by the party to contest.
However, in an unexpected twist aimed at undermining his legitimate political aspiration, the PDP Suleja Local Government Chapter wrote to the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC) indicating that the party would not field a candidate for the Chairmanship position, but will only present candidates for the Councillorship seats in the ten (10) wards.
This action, which was done without due consultation, fairness, or adherence to internal party democracy, represents yet another unfortunate attempt to stifle the democratic rights of a popular and qualified aspirant, and by extension, deny the good people of Suleja the opportunity to elect a credible leader of their choice.
In light of these developments, and in keeping with our belief in the rule of law and justice, we have approached the court to seek redress. This step is not just for Barr. Talib alone, but for all well-meaning members of our party, our supporters, and the entire Suleja electorate who believe in truth, fairness, and democratic ideals.
We urge all supporters and members of the Talib Movement to remain calm, resolute, and law-abiding. This is not the end; it is the beginning of a greater struggle for justice, fairness and quality representation. Our resolve remains unshaken, and our hope is firm: Suleja deserves better and together, we shall deliver it.
