*Important Announcement*

The ongoing membership registration exercise have just been extended by 2 weeks.

Consequently, the registration officers at the Polling Units, Ward and LG supervisors should use the extension to reach out to potential members and prospects. It is important that we deploy our canvassers at various level to bring in more members.

It also follows that the earlier call for submission of materials that was slated for *Wednesday 31st* has been invalidated by this extension.

However, the committee would implore that any LG that needs more forms should ask even as they seek to get more people into the party during the 2weeks extension.

Thank you

*Much Ado About Ogun Cargo Airport - Rueben Abati*

Ogun State has been in the news for the wrong reasons lately over what I prefer to call for the want of a better term: much ado about a cargo airport. All the parties involved need to be told that the provision of a Cargo Airport in the state should not become a matter of geography, individual ego, arrogance, mischief or ethnicity. The main consideration should be the interest of the people of Ogun State. A Cargo airport in Ogun State will, to state the obvious, create employment, open up the state, and deepen the development process, and also provide an alternative to the congested Lagos port facilities. It will shore up state revenue. The great advantage or disadvantage that Ogun State has is its proximity to Lagos.

With regard to the former, the increasing scarcity of space, and the over-congestion in Lagos, has resulted in the last two decades in an urban sprawl from Lagos towards every part of Ogun State which is its nearest neighbour. The effect is that housing schemes, industrial projects and other investments that could ordinarily have been located in Lagos, are being moved to Ogun State, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on the Southern front, and towards Epe and Ijebu Ode on the Northern axis. Whoever runs Ogun State as Governor therefore has a responsibility to prepare Ogun State for this advantage, for it is the best option for turning the state into an industrial hub, not just for proximity purposes but also as the gateway to the East and the neighbouring countries of Benin, and Togo. The disadvantage which needs to be addressed is that as Ogun State merges with Lagos, and with many Ogun State residents working in Lagos, commuting daily between the two states, the bulk of the tax that should go to Ogun State ends up in Lagos State coffers. No Governor has been able to find an answer to that yet. Most of the people living in Ifo 2 Constituency and Obafemi Owode Local Government, for example, live in O

JUST IN: APC announces date for convention.
Atiku Bagudu
Jigawa State Governor and Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Strategy and Contact Committee, Badaru Abubakar, has said the party’s national convention will hold in June.

There are speculations that the tenure of Governor Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee will be extended while the convention would be shifted beyond June.

But in an interview with newsmen at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday, Badaru said the Caretaker Committee is committed to delivering on its mandate not later than June.

“It is very feasible. I know the national Caretaker Committee are committed to delivering in June. And we will support them and do whatever it takes to make sure we deliver by June,” he said.

Badaru said the APC has registered 36 million members in the ongoing registration and revalidation exercise slated to end on March 31.

“Initially, we printed only 12 thousands members, but now we have gone 10 million members. Now, we have gone to 36 million. And that is not even enough.

“And now, we are printing more because when people see what President Muhammadu Buhari has done with one side of the resources than the previous administration get, the support is really tremendous,” he said.

The governor, who said his committee would reconcile and bring more political bigwigs into the APC, however, dispelled claims that the APC is trying to make Nigeria a one-party state.

“There will always be opposition. It can never be one party state. There are people who will still leave the party (APC). How many parties do we have now? We have even lost count. There will be a ruling party and there will be opposition,” he said.

Inaugurating the committee earlier, Governor Buni said the terms of reference for the committee is to establish constructive engagements between critical stakeholders at various levels of the party with a view to reviving confidence and trust among

Housing: Ogun to begin estates for low, middle income earners in Ota, Ilaro, Sagamu, Ijebu Ode

The Ogun State Government says it has earmarked large portions of land in Ota, Ilaro, Sagamu and Ijebu Ode to host housing estates for middle and low income earners in the state.

Disclosing this at the weekend, the State Commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Omoniyi Akande, explained that the decision to embark on the housing projects was in consonance with the determination of the Dapo Abiodun-led administration to provide 2,500 housing units in the state in its first term.

He added that locating the planned low and medium cost houses in Ota, Ilaro, Sagamu and Ijebu Ode was to ensure equitable distribution of amenities and projects in the three senatorial districts of the state.

Jagunmolu stated further that the 150 units of two and three bedrooms at Prince Court Estate was commissioned at Kemta, Idi Aba in Abeokuta, while the 500 units of similar description are on-going at Kobape in the Ogun Central Senatorial District.

He, however, disclosed that the projects in Ota, Ilaro, Sagamu and Ijebu Ode will begin after the completion of the ongoing housing project at Kobape.

"We are now putting final touches to the King's Court Estate, which is currently under construction, in Abeokuta, the state capital. That project is being managed by the Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation, OPIC.

"Meanwhile, Phase 2 of the Prince Court, Kemta is at an advanced stage and would be completed later in the year", the Housing Commissioner submitted.
