Strengthening Partnerships, Expanding Access: HHMC & IMSHIA Meet to Advance Healthcare Delivery in Imo

Today, the Heartland Hospital Management Corporation (HHMC) and the Imo State Health Insurance Agency (IMSHIA) held a strategic meeting to deepen collaboration for Universal Health Coverage in Imo State.
The HHMC Team led by the Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Emmanuel Ogueri was warmly welcomed by the IMSHIA Team led by Executive Secretary/CEO, Prof. Uchenna Ewelike, as the meeting focused on implementation policies to ensure that over 1.4 million IMSHIA enrollees access services in HHMC-managed facilities without disruption, provider payment systems are strengthened for faster, transparent claims processing, hospital infrastructure and equipment are aligned with insurance standards ahead of Imo’s new Robotic Surgery & AI Healthcare Centre, coordinated oversight is established to ensure quality service delivery and beneficiary satisfaction
The meeting builds on the landmark March 2026 agreement that placed Imo-owned hospitals under HHMC management - a core component of His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodimma’s health sector reform.
While speaking, Dr. Ogueri stated the commission's commitment to sustaining the momentum of transformation in Imo’s healthcare sector through teamwork and innovation.
While responding, Prof. Ewelike re-emphasized on the agency's goal - "every Imolite must have access to quality healthcare without financial hardship."
By aligning modern hospital management with expanded health insurance coverage, Imo is setting a clear path toward quality, affordable healthcare for all.
