*REPORT ON THE COURTESY/FAMILIARIZATION VISIT TO THE DEPUTY RECTOR ACADEMICS.*
It was on *Thursday, 24th of March, 2022* that the *Students' Union Government* ably led by *H.E. Comr. AHANEKU VALENTINE N.* embarked on a courtesy/familiarization visit to the office of the *Deputy Rector Academics (Mr. CHRIS C. ONYEMENONU).* The visit was part of the planned routine courtesy visit by the Union to principal officers of the Academic Board, Heads of Divisions/Units and other Directorates within the institution. Apart from the primary aim of familiarization, the visit also had the initiative of engaging the Deputy Rector Academics on friendly discussion with the motive of seeking his wisdom and advice in regards to the smooth running of the Union.
Sequel to the issues bothering the Students' Union Government and Nigerian Students at large, the SUG officials who embarked on the visit ceased the opportunity to register her trying issues and experience at the desk of the Deputy Rector Academics. These issues which had been challenges of inconveniences to Nigerian Students were stated as follows;
● Consideration to the lifting of ban on students' vehicles
● Re-opening of all the lavatories in students' lecture halls
● Provision of street lights at path ways and strategic points which will be useful for both the hostelites and the students going for night class.
● Completion of the renovation of the SUG secretariat
● Provision of 30 pieces of whiteboards for lecture halls at the various schools
● Renovation of the dilapidated hostel B and other hotels
In response, the *Deputy Rector (Academics)* in his words expressed delightfulness by our presence and the complaints registered. Thus, he said it is only reasonable dialogue that could solve all problems. And he admonished that the Union should continue in same manner of consultation, and consolidation before confrontation.
Moreso, he promised to meet with the *RECTOR* in a detailed discussion regarding to our unbiased concerns tendered before his desk.
A *tour* with Officials of the SUG around the locked *lavatories* & *dilapidated hostels* was scheduled by him to be on *Friday, 25th March, 2022* at the hours of *10:am*
