Women Farmers and Stakeholders Pay Courtesy Visit to Consultant on Climate Change and Renewable Energy, Set Agenda for Collaborative Climate Action and Agricultural Innovation
Osogbo, Nigeria – 28th July 2025.
In a significant step toward inclusive climate action and agricultural transformation in Osun State, the Consultant on Climate Change and Renewable Energy to the Osun State Government received a courtesy visit earlier today from representatives of leading women-focused agricultural and youth mobilisation groups.
The delegation included leaders from the Small-Scale Women Farmers Organisation in Nigeria (SWOFON), the National Council for Women Societies of Nigeria (NCWS), the National Society for Women in Agriculture, Women in Tech and Innovation(WITO), and the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Mobilisation.
The meeting provided a platform for fruitful dialogue on how to co-create and scale impactful climate-focused projects that empower women and youth in agriculture. Discussions revolved around climate advocacy, skills development, and how to embed sustainability into agricultural practices such as livestock farming, crop production, and food processing.
“These partnerships are crucial if we’re to build a climate-resilient future for Osun,” said Professor Chinwe Obuaku, Consultant on Climate Change and Renewable Energy. “Our women and youth are not just beneficiaries of climate action, they are leaders and innovators, and we’re committed to creating platforms that amplify their contributions.”
Representatives from the visiting organisations expressed their appreciation for the state’s openness to collaboration and pledged their full support in mobilising grassroots communities, expertise, and networks to ensure successful implementation of the agreed initiatives.
The meeting ended with a shared commitment to develop a joint action plan that outlines timelines, pilot locations, and resource mobilisation strategies. The working group will commence immediately, and outcomes will feed into the state’s broader climate and agricultural policies.
This courtesy visit signals a renewed synergy between government, civil society, and grassroots organisations to promote inclusive, locally driven climate solutions that strengthen Osun’s agricultural sector and green economy.
