The Honorable Commissioner for Health in Osun State, Hon. (Barr.) Jola Moses Akintola , has commended the Executive Governor of the State, His Excellency Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke for his unalloyed commitment, passion and dedication to the all-round improvement of the State health sector and equally described the number one Citizen of the State as an achiever par excellence in all ramifications.

He made this assertion in his goodwill message delivered during the official flag-off of free enrolment of Traditional Rulers and their Queens into the State Health Insurance Scheme and official commissioning of the Osun State Health Insurance Agency (OSHIA) Multipurpose Hall by His Excellency Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke held at State Secretariat on Tuesday 7th July, 2026.

In his remarks – “Your Excellency, on behalf of the entire health sector in Osun State, I express our profound appreciation for your visionary leadership, your people-centered policies and your unwavering investment in the health and well-being of the people of Osun State. Your administration continues to redefine governance through impactful programmes that prioritize the welfare of the citizens.”

“As we commission this facility and launch this noble initiative of enrolling of our Royal Fathers into the Health Insurance Scheme free of charge today, let us reaffirm our collective commitment to constructing a healthier, more robust and prosperous Osun State where quality healthcare shall be fundamental right accessible to all, not a privilege that is reserved for selected few but to all citizens of Osun State.”

Earlier, the Executive Secretary OSHIA, Dr. Rasaq Akindele appreciated Governor Ademola Adeleke for providing enabling environment for the agency to operate effectively and also for his people oriented programs in the health sector.

Also, the State Governor His Excellency Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke senat while delivering his address at the occasion highlighted some achievements of his administration in the health sector, key among which is the rehabilitation of over 200 Primary Health Care Centres. Others landmark achievements in other sectors highlighted include delivering over 300 kilometers of roads, over 150 rehabilitated schools, ongoing payments of salary debt and pensions, almost N2 billion for cooperative financing, new tractors and farm inputs for farmers , ongoing five star stadium among others.

Royal fathers present at the occasion include The Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun; Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal and a host of others. OSUN HEALTH COMMISSIONER ATTENDS SECOND QUARTERLY MEETING OF NIGERIA HEALTH COMMISSIONERS FORUM IN ABUJA

AS FORUM HOLDS STRATEGIC DISCUSSIONS WITH DG NCDC, SWAP OFFICE, CEO OF PHARMACEUTICAL COYS…

The Honorable Commissioner for Health in Osun State, Hon. (Barr.) Jola Moses Akintola , represented the State at the second Quarterly Meeting of the Nigeria Health Commissioners Forum (NHCF) held between 1st – 3rd July, 2026; at Lake Green Field Hotel, Abuja.

The quarterly meeting provides an avenue to bring together health leaders at the sub-national level to assess performance and agree on a set of joint initiatives. The NHCF is a body of Health Commissioners across all States of the Federation, with the main objective of building a stronger health sector in Nigeria, through collaboration and strategic partnership.

The strategic discussions were held among Health Commissioners and the various relevant healthcare stakeholders in the public and private sectors. A Performance Dialogue was held with the Honorable Minister for Health, Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate, on past and ongoing programs & projects embarked upon by the State Ministries of Health, in collaboration with relevant Ministries, Departments & Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government.

Also, the Health Commissioners’ body held an Annual Leadership Breakfast Meeting with Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of Pharmaceutical Companies as well as discussions with Representatives of World Health Organization (WHO) on their proposed Multi-Year Strategy, and had meaningful Engagements with Representatives of Sector-Wide Approach (SWAP) Coordination Office and also with the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC).

The conversations were held in a collaborative manner that focused on expanding access to quality, affordable medicines and advancing universal medical security in addition to strengthening both national and subnational health systems for sustainable healthcare delivery.

HON. (BARR.) JOLA AKINTOLA CONGRATULATES THE POPULACE FOR WITNESSING THE MONTH OF JULY AND SECOND PHASE OF THE YEAR.

The Honorable Commissioner for Health in Osun State – Hon. (Barr.) Jola Moses Akintola has sent his message of felicitations to the populace, especially the good people of Osun State, for crossing over to the last of two halves of the year.

In a statement released by the Media Unit, Office of the Honorable Commissioner for Health; he congratulated the general public for successfully making it to the concluding part of the year 2026. Also, he prayed that every one of their heart desires and aspirations yet unfulfilled in the first half will come to reality in this second half.

In his words, “I congratulate the general public especially the good people of Osun State for witnessing the month of July which signifies the dawn of the second half of the year. Having successfully scaled the first six months, it is my prayer that all your unaccomplished dreams and aspirations shall come to reality in this final half of the year”.

Particularly, he thanked the Osun populace for their relentless support to the Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke -led Administration in Osun State and assured them of His Excellency’s unshaken commitment to their overall development and wellbeing.

Governor Adeleke Reaffirms Commitment to PHC Development at Osun Volunteers' Orientation Training
...As Volunteers Receive Instant Alerts Following Governor Adeleke’s Approval of Monthly Allowance, Assures of Permanent Employment in Batches

The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to strengthening Primary Health Care services and improving the welfare of healthcare personnel across the state.

The Governor gave the assurance on Thursday at the One-Day Orientation Training for Primary Health Care Volunteers drawn from the 30 Local Government and Area Office of Osun State.

Addressing the volunteers, Governor Adeleke, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Bobagunwa Teslim Igbalaye, commended their dedication and sacrifices in supporting healthcare delivery at the grassroots, describing them as critical partners in the state's efforts to provide accessible and quality healthcare services to residents.

"As PHC volunteers, you have played a vital role in supporting our healthcare system and ensuring that quality healthcare services reach the people who need them most," the Governor stated.

The Governor noted that despite challenges associated with the cessation of Local Government funds, his administration has continued to prioritize the welfare of health workers and sustain effective service delivery across primary healthcare facilities in the state.

In a major highlight of the event, Governor Adeleke announced the approval of a monthly allowance of ₦40,000 for over 1,000 PHC volunteers across Osun State, many of whom had served for more than six years without receiving any form of remuneration.

The Governor further approved the payment of one-month arrears of ₦40,000, bringing the total amount received by each volunteer to ₦80,000.

The announcement immediately transformed the atmosphere at the venue as volunteers began receiving ₦80,000 credit alerts while the Governor's speech was being delivered by the SSG. The development sparked wild jubilation, with songs of appreciation and celebrations erupting across the hall as beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Governor for recognizing their years of sacrifice and dedicated service.

Speaking on the approval, Governor Adeleke said: "This decision reflects a government that listens, appreciates sacrifice and rewards commitment." The Governor also commended the Chairman of the State Primary Health Care Development Board (SPHCDB), Alhaji Tajudeen Adisa, for his steadfast support and commitment to the advancement of primary healthcare services across Osun State.

Acknowledging the efforts of the Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Shina Igbalaye, the Governor noted that under his leadership, the agency has witnessed renewed focus, stronger coordination and impactful initiatives aimed at improving healthcare delivery and enhancing the welfare of healthcare personnel and volunteers across the state.

He noted that the approval of the monthly allowance for PHC volunteers is one of the positive outcomes of the ongoing reforms and renewed direction within the Board.

In another major announcement that drew loud applause from participants, the SSG disclosed on behalf of Governor Adeleke that the state government would soon commence the process of absorbing PHC volunteers into the public service.

The assurance was greeted with excitement from the volunteers, many of whom described the development as a long-awaited breakthrough.

The Governor urged the volunteers to remain committed to their duties, saying, "As volunteers who interact closely with communities, you are ambassadors of both healthcare delivery and community development."

He further charged them to sustain their dedication to service, adding that, "The continued growth of our healthcare sector depends on stability, continuity and support for policies that place the welfare of workers and citizens at the forefront."

OSUN HEALTH COMMISSIONER ATTENDS COMMISSIONING OF TOILET FACILITY DONATED BY NGO

Commends sponsor NGO for sharing Osun Govt's vision on zero tolerance for open defecation.

The Honorable Commissioner for Health in Osun State, Hon. (Barr.) Jola Moses Akintola has emphasized the importance of Public - Private collaboration in the provision of basic health facilities and promotion of good health amongst residents of Osun State.

He made these remarks, as the Special Guest of Honour at the commissioning of newly completed toilet and bathroom facility donated by a Non-Governmental Organization - Grace Charity Organization - to Ijesa Special Needs School, Ireti Ayo, Ilesa on Tuesday 16th June 2026.

The Commissioner, who was represented by Mr. Akinpelu Akintola commended the NGO under the able leadership of the President and Founder , Dr. (Mrs.) Dadapkoye Johnson, for embarking on a project which aligns with the Osun State Government's policy on eradication of open defecation and provision of basic infrastructure in the State's public schools.

Earlier in her opening remarks, Dr. (Mrs.) Dadapkoye Johnson, highlighted the past and present projects of the NGO especially in the aspects of food security, skill training opportunities, education, economic opportunity, home hygiene and sanitation support and provision of health care for thousands of elderly persons, mostly residents of Ilesa and Lagos.

She remarked that the project represents the organization's collective commitment to ensuring that every child, regardless of physical ability, has access to a safe, clean, and dignified environment.

Also, speaking at the event, representative of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mrs. Faminu Opeyemi lauded the NGO for partnering with the State Government in tackling challenges of the school. She equally eulogised the government for bringing succor the way of the students by constructing and relocating the students to a more secured and new facility, thereby making them less prone to abuse by men of the underworld.

The Chairman of the occasion, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, ably represented by Alagba Wale Idowu, was profoundly grateful to Dr. Dadapkoye Johnson and her husband- Mr. Busuyi Johnson a son of the soil; for counting Ijesaland worthy of such laudable project and prayed for more peace and love in their union.

The School's Principal, Mrs. Egunjobi Akindele appreciated the kind gesture and admonished other charity-minded persons and organizations to assist the school by way of similar donations, especially the construction of a modern kitchen.

The donor NGO - Grace Charity Organization - was founded in 2020 and formally registered in 2024 in Lagos, Nigeria and Houston, Texas, USA. It was established in honour of the Founder's late Mother, Deaconess Grace Abeke Johnson.

The Commissioner, on behalf of Osun State, appreciated the NGO for her bright vision and spirit of giving back to the society and admonished the management of the school to imbibe the habits of good sanitation and maintenance culture for the donated facility.

Osun Launches 2026 ITN Campaign, Targets Distribution of Over 2.8 Million Mosquito Nets to Households

The Osun State Government has officially flagged off the 2026 Insecticide-Treated Nets (ITN) Mass Distribution Campaign, with plans to distribute over 2.8 million mosquito nets to households across the state as part of efforts to reduce malaria prevalence.

Declaring the campaign open on behalf of Governor, Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke the Commissioner for Health, Barrister Jola Moses Akintola , said the initiative marks the commencement of house-to-house distribution of insecticide-treated nets across all communities in Osun State.

The flag-off ceremony was organized by the Osun State Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), and the Society for Family Health (SFH) at the Local Government Service Commission, Abere.

Governor Adeleke described the campaign as a critical public health intervention aimed at protecting residents from malaria and sustaining the significant gains already recorded in the fight against the disease.

According to him, over 2.8 million insecticide-treated nets will be distributed across the state, demonstrating the government's commitment to safeguarding the health of its citizens.

He noted that malaria prevalence in Osun State has declined from 33.4 percent in 2015 to 12.9 percent in 2025 through sustained investments, improved diagnosis and treatment, community mobilization, and increased use of insecticide-treated nets.

The Governor further disclosed that Osun State has been selected to pilot two innovative public health interventions that could shape future health programmes across Nigeria.

The first innovation is the integration of Tuberculosis (TB) case finding into the ITN campaign, allowing community teams to identify and refer individuals with symptoms suggestive of tuberculosis for further evaluation and treatment.

The second innovation is the pilot implementation of school-based insecticide-treated net distribution in Osogbo Local Government Area to strengthen access to nets and promote malaria prevention awareness among school children and their families.

Governor Adeleke through Barrister Akintola appreciated the support of development partners, including the Roll Back Malaria Partnership, Global Fund, National Malaria Elimination Programme, Catholic Relief Services, Society for Family Health, and the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria for their continued contributions to malaria control efforts.

Earlier, the First Lady of Osun State and Net Ambassador, Chief (Mrs.) Titilola Adeleke described malaria as one of Nigeria's most common public health challenges, particularly affecting children under five years and pregnant women.

She pledged to intensify advocacy on the proper use of insecticide-treated mosquito nets and encourage residents to sleep under them every night as a preventive measure against malaria.

Mrs. Adeleke also reaffirmed her commitment to working with stakeholders to reduce malaria-related deaths, prevent complications among pregnant women, and lessen the overall burden of the disease in the state.

She urged residents to cooperate with mobilizers and distributors by making themselves available at home, providing accurate information, and registering to receive the mosquito nets.

In their goodwill messages, representatives of the Roll Back Malaria Partnership, Global Fund, National Malaria Elimination Programme, Catholic Relief Services, WHO, BASF, and Society for Family Health described the campaign as a vital intervention that will protect families, especially pregnant women and children under five.

The stakeholders emphasized the need for strong leadership, effective coordination, and sustained commitment to achieving malaria control and eventual elimination in Osun State and Nigeria.

In his closing remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Isiaka Adekunle, appreciated Governor Ademola Adeleke and all development partners for their support, while highlights of the event included the decoration of Chief (Mrs.) Titilola Adeleke as Net Ambassador and the presentation of insecticide-treated nets to the state government.

OSUN HEALTH COMMISSIONER FELICITATES EX OSUN SUBEB BOSS - HON. IBUKUN FADIPE - ON HIS BIRTHDAY.

The Osun State Commissioner for Health, Hon. (Barr.) Jola Moses Akintola has congratulated the immediate past Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and ACCORD candidate in the Osun East Senatorial Election in Osun State, Hon. Fadipe Ibukun Ishola (Olokaloko), on the occasion of his birthday.

This was contained in a release from the Media Unit of the Office of the Commissioner for Health and personally signed by the Commissioner, wherein he described the celebrant as a grassroots politician, achiever par excellence and dependable character whose unalloyed loyalty to any cause he believes in can never be underestimated nor doubted any at given time.

Barr. Akintola lauded the age long and unquantifiable vigor & energy dissipated by Hon. Fadipe towards the eventual actualization of the incumbent “Imole” administration in Osun State. He equally eulogized the Ex Osun SUBEB Chairman for his administrative prowess which has brought unprecedented and all-round development to primary and post-primary education in the State, both in terms of capacity building and infrastructural development.
