Anambra West Boss Nnazor Calls For Urgent Intervention On The Dilapidated Odo-Itamaka Yam Market Road.

By Felix Chukwunwike

Nzam: Anambra West LGA. Transition Committee Chairman Anambra West LGA, Hon. Fidelis Nnazor has called for urgent state government intervention on the dilapidated Odo-Itamaka yam market road Nzam, in Anambra West LGA.

Mr Nnazor made the call during a visit to the road, where he observed the poor state of the road and the difficulties faced by traders and residents in accessing the market.

He said that road has become a source of concern not only for the transporters and traders but also for the local farmers who rely on this route to get their goods to the market.

Anambra West Mayor disclosed that the rainy season has worsened the situation, turning the road into a nearly impassable quagmire, leading to losses in produce and income.

He emphasized the importance of the road to the economic development of the area, stating that the market plays a crucial role in the livelihood of residents and the local economy, appealing to the state government to intervene.

We are here to access this Odo-Itamaka yam market road which is strategically located at Odo- Itamoka beach on the bank of the Niger River. As you can see it is in a terrible state, and almost impassable, making it impossible for our people to access the market," Nnazor said.

We want to bring the attention of the state government to this economic road, because we believe that the market will become the epic center for buyers and sellers of yam produce in the State and beyond because of its strategic location..

We want to make a passionate appeal to the state government to intervene urgently, and repair the road so that our dream of having the biggest centralised yam market in Anambra state and beyond would be realised". Nnazor said.

'We thanked Mr. Governor who has done wonderfully well for us, most especially the completion of Mmiata-Nzam Mmiata -Nzam road project which no government since the creation of this state has done for us, but like Oliver Twist, we keep asking for more. He added

He said that his administration would commerce palliative measures on the road soonest to make it motorable for residents and traders this rainy season while waiting for intervention of the state government.
