ADDRESS BY DAUDA MOHAMMED TO THE ELECTORATE AS INEC OFFICIALLY OPENS THE 2027 CAMPAIGN WINDOW
My Dear People, Distinguished Elders, Women, Youths, and the Good People of Adamawa North,
Today marks a significant moment in our democratic journey as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially opens the campaign window for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
As we commence this important journey, I stand before you with humility, optimism, and an unwavering sense of responsibility. I do not approach this election merely as a politician seeking a mandate, but as a fellow citizen who understands our challenges, shares our aspirations, and believes deeply in the enormous potential of our people.
My campaign will be anchored on issues, ideas, competence, accountability, humility, and service.
I will not insult my opponents, engage in character assassination, promote hate speech, or exploit our ethnic and religious differences for political gain. Politics must never become a battlefield between brothers and neighbours. It should be a noble contest of ideas, vision, character, and capacity where candidates present their programmes and the people freely make their choice.
As we move forward, I urge our people to ask the fundamental questions:
Who will truly represent our interests at the National Assembly? Who will speak courageously for our communities? Who will pursue better roads, quality healthcare, meaningful education, employment opportunities, agricultural development, youth empowerment, and sustainable economic growth? And who will remain accessible and accountable to the people after receiving their mandate?
If entrusted with your mandate, I will make the welfare and development of our people the cornerstone of my representation. I will pursue legislation, federal interventions, and strategic partnerships capable of producing tangible benefits for our communities, while maintaining an open and consistent channel of communication with the people I represent.
I also believe that representation must begin with humility and respect. Public office is not an inheritance, a personal possession, or a reward for age and length of service. It is a trust temporarily entrusted to an individual by the people.
No one is born a representative, and no political position belongs permanently to any individual or generation. The people are the owners of the mandate, and whoever receives it is merely its custodian.
Therefore, I will never approach public service with arrogance, entitlement, or a sense of superiority. I will respect every citizen whether young or old, rich or poor, educated or uneducated, politically connected or unknown. Every constituent deserves to be heard and treated with dignity.
The Senate is not a throne; it is a place of service. A senatorial mandate is not a crown; it is a responsibility. And a representative is not a master of the people, but a servant entrusted with their voice.
Our democracy should never become an ego contest over who is older, who has served longer, or who believes a particular position belongs to them. Experience deserves respect, but so does fresh thinking. Age deserves honour, but it must never become a barrier to legitimate aspiration. Ultimately, the people must have the freedom to choose who they believe can best represent their interests.
To our youths, I say: you are not merely the leaders of tomorrow; you are indispensable participants in the leadership of today. Your energy, creativity, skills, and ideas must have a place in governance. You deserve opportunities to learn, work, build businesses, and contribute meaningfully to society.
To our women, whose resilience sustains our families and communities, I pledge to champion greater opportunities, economic empowerment, inclusion, and representation.
To our elders, I promise respect, consultation, and recognition of the wisdom and experience that remain invaluable to the progress of our society.
And to every voter regardless of political affiliation, religion, ethnicity, gender, age, or social status I extend a hand of friendship, unity, and shared purpose.
I therefore call on all those who support this aspiration to conduct themselves with dignity, discipline, and respect. Let us campaign peacefully. Let us disagree without becoming enemies. Let us reject violence, intimidation, misinformation, and every action capable of threatening the peace and unity of our communities.
Our politics must unite us, not divide us.
My ambition is not simply to occupy a seat in the Senate. My ambition is to make that seat meaningful, accessible, and useful to the people. I seek to represent a people whose voices deserve to be heard, whose concerns deserve attention, and whose aspirations deserve purposeful representation.
I am ready to walk this journey with you not as someone above you, but as one of you; not as a master, but as your servant; and not as a distant politician, but as an accessible representative who understands that public office is a sacred trust.
The journey ahead will require courage, unity, sacrifice, and collective determination. Together, we can build a stronger, more prosperous, peaceful, and united Adamawa North.
Together, we can give our people effective, responsible, and purposeful representation.
Together, we can make our voices count.
As this campaign officially begins, I humbly ask for your prayers, your support, your confidence, and ultimately your mandate.
Let us choose competence over empty promises, service over self-interest, humility over arrogance, unity over division, courage over complacency, and development over politics of bitterness.
May Almighty God guide our decisions, bless our people, bless Adamawa North, and bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Long live our democracy.
Long live the people of Adamawa North.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
