Babanna Border Development Agency to Enhance Agricultural Partnerships
The Babanna Border Development Agency (BBDA) Niger state is poised to strengthen its collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to boost Agricultural productivity and border security in Niger State. This development follows the Niger State Government's recent visit to the Glo-Djigbe Industrial Zone in Benin Republic, where Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago expressed interest in replicating the sustainable model at the Special Agro Processing Zone in Minna.
Key Partnership Highlights:
• Agricultural Monitoring: The BBDA and the State Ministry of Agriculture will work together to gather data on farmers within and around the border community, enhancing monitoring and management of agricultural activities.
• Joint Action Committee: A Joint Action Committee has been established to develop a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlining the partnership's framework and modalities.
• Economic Growth: The collaboration aims to drive long-term economic growth, empower local industries, and improve the livelihoods of border communities ¹ ² ³.
Babanna Border Market and Free Trade Zone
The Niger State Government has also urged the reopening of the Babanna land border in Borgu Local Government Area to stimulate economic activities and enhance development in border communities. The proposed Babanna Border Market and Free Trade Zone is expected to:
• Boost Trade: Increase trade and economic activity in the region
• Create Jobs: Generate employment opportunities and alleviate poverty
• Improve Infrastructure: Drive infrastructure development and foster regional cooperation

Celebrating Milestones at Babanna Border Development Agency

On August 27, 2025, the Babanna Border Development Agency (BBDA) came together to celebrate two special occasions. Ahmed Sulaiman, an administrative staff member, was promoted to a new role, and Hajia Zainab Saleh Niworu, the agency's accountant, marked her birthday.

The Director General of BBDA took the opportunity to congratulate both staff members, expressing his appreciation for their hard work and dedication to the agency's mission. In his remarks, the Director General encouraged Ahmed Sulaiman to continue delivering exceptional service in his new role and wished Hajia Zainab Saleh Niworu a happy birthday, hoping that her special day would be filled with joy and happiness.

The Director of Administration also commended both staff members, thanking them for their tireless efforts toward the betterment of the organization. He emphasized the importance of teamwork and collaboration in achieving the agency's goals.

The celebration began with an open prayer delivered by Mr. Aliyu Idris, the ICT Officer, who prayed for God's guidance, protection, and blessings upon the agency and its staff. The event was filled with warmth and camaraderie, showcasing the agency's commitment to recognizing and appreciating its employees' hard work and milestones.

As the celebration came to a close, the Assistant Procurement Officer, Nuhu Garba, led the staff in a closing prayer, thanking God for the occasion and asking for continued guidance and success for the agency. The BBDA community is proud of Ahmed Sulaiman's promotion and Hajia Zainab Saleh Niworu's special day, and they look forward to continued growth and success together.
