NIGER STATE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT LAUDED RMRDC FOR STRENGTHENING COLLABORATION AND SUCCESSFUL PILOT PROJECTS
The Niger State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Musa Salihu Bawa Bosso has lauded the Raw Materials and Research and Development Council,(RMRDC) for strengthening collaboration and successfully executing pilot projects in the state.
The commissioner gave the praise while receiving the Niger State Coordinator RMRDC, Mr. Yakubu Mohammed, on a courtesy visit to the ministry in Minna.
The Niger State Coordinator Raw Material Research and Development Council, (RMRDC), Mr. Yakubu Mohammed, briefed the commissioner on the viable projects embarked on by the RMRDC in Niger State and other states, including various crops boosting programmes, such as soybeans, maize, sesame, sorghum, millet, cashew, tomato, palm tree, coconut, banana, plantain, Tiger nuts, cotton, jatropha, artemisia, sugar beet, and cowpea.
He said the visit was in a bid to further strengthen collaboration and ensure effective service delivery.
Mr. Yakubu Mohammed also mentioned beneficiaries of the RMRDC Programmes in Niger State to include farmers cultivating aforementioned crops, saying the Maize Growers, Processing, and Marketers Association of Nigeria (MAGPAGMAN), Maize Association of Nigeria (MAAN), Soybeans Farmers Association of Nigeria(SOFAN), Sesame Farmers Association of Nigeria (SEFAN), Tiger Nuts Farmers, Garkuwa Farms Minna, Kwakuti Women Rice Processing Cluster, Niger State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mokwa Local Government Area, NACOTAN, and the Federal University of Technology, FUT Minna among others benefitted of various projects of the RMRDC in Niger State which also has a Raw Material Promotion and Investment Information Centre at the RMRDC Niger State Coordinating Office in Minna.
Responding, the Niger State Commissioner of Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Musa Salihu Bawa Bosso, lauded the RMRDC under the leadership of Prof. Hussaini Doko Ibrahim, particularly the crop-boosting initiative which he said has motivated farmers to see farming as entrepreneurship-oriented and seen farming as a business, adding that it is a family hood support idea, hence the need for strengthening collaboration with the RMRDC, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and relevant stakeholders.
Commissioner Musa Bawa Bosso urged the farmers to inculcate the habits of having a farming plan and keeping proper records of their farming activities and expenditures, to enable them to know the gain or loss.
The commissioner said that the Governor of Niger State Mohammed Umaru Bago is poised with the New Niger Agenda with the Ministry of Agriculture playing a key role to create a lot a lot of jobs for the youth, fostering the establishment of farming implementation, and establishing machinery assembly plants in the state.
The Niger State RMRDC Coordinator, Mr. Yakubu Mohammed was accompanied by Mustapha Muhammed Nma (S.O.I.), Umar Salihu Adamu (P.OII), Halilu Fatima Nnatako (A.O. II), Aliyu Sadeeq Abubakar (Inv.O. II), Musa Sheshu (A.O.II), and Aliyu Shuaibu (S.O.II).
