Today in Abuja, I successfully appeared before the Screening Committee of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), ahead of the 2027 Benue State Governorship Primary Elections.

I am grateful to the party leadership, under the chairmanship of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, and the members of the National Working Committee for a thorough and successful screening process, which affirmed that we have met all the requirements to fly the flag of our great party once again.

This is about our collective resolve to continue rebuilding Benue State, strengthening our economy, restoring confidence in governance, and consolidating the gains we have made together.

I remain deeply humbled by the overwhelming support and solidarity from the good people of Benue State, particularly the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Benue Chapter, and the Benue State Motorcycle Association (BEMOA), which purchased the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms on my behalf.

Yesterday, I convened a high-level Peace and Reconciliation Meeting with key leaders of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, at the Government House, Makurdi.

In attendance were respected stakeholders, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume; former Governor Gabriel Suswam; Sen. Barnabas Gemade; members of the National Assembly; and other committed leaders of our state.

The meeting was about unity, healing, and putting Benue first, not politics as usual.

I made it clear that leadership is about building bridges. Where there have been misunderstandings, we must find understanding. Where there has been division, we must choose unity. As part of this commitment, I offered an apology to aggrieved members, not out of weakness, but out of strength and a sense of responsibility to move us forward together.

Our administration has made measurable progress in education, healthcare, ICT, industrialization, and infrastructure. But the truth is, we can achieve even much more when we stand as one.

I am encouraged by the spirit of togetherness during the meeting. There was honesty. There was reflection. And, most importantly, there was a shared resolve to rebuild trust and strengthen our party for the good of our people.

Benue is bigger than any individual ambition. Our collective future depends on our ability to work together, support one another, and stay focused on delivering real results.

Yesterday, I received the APC Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms purchased for me by the Benue State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners and the Benue Motorcycle Association (BEMOA) at Government House, Makurdi.

I am sincerely grateful for this show of love and confidence in our shared vision. It further strengthens my resolve to continue the work of rebuilding Benue and delivering purposeful governance to our people.

We are aware that reform comes with challenges, but we remain focused and unshaken. Our priorities are clear: prompt payment of salaries and pensions, improved infrastructure, better access to healthcare and education, and deliberate steps to revive our economy, including the planned revitalization of Taraku Mills to create jobs and strengthen our agricultural value chain.

We are also working to ensure unity within our great party, the APC family, as we move toward 2027 general elections.

Yesterday, I received with deep shock the news of the death of our Head of Service, Dr. Moses Agbogbo Ode, a dedicated public servant whose commitment, discipline, and courage have helped shape the civil service reforms of our administration.

His death is a painful loss to the government and the entire state.

On behalf of the Government and the good people of Benue State, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, civil servants, and all who were touched by his service.

May his soul rest in peace. Amen.

Today, I received the rescued victims of the Benue Links bus abduction along the Makurdi–Otukpo corridor at the Old Banquet Hall, Government House, Makurdi.

The incident, which occurred on 15th April, 2026 along the Taraku axis in Gwer-East Local Government Area, led to the abduction of passengers by criminal elements.

I am pleased to confirm that, following sustained and coordinated operations by our security agencies, all the abducted persons have been safely rescued.

I commend the Commissioner of Police, the Nigerian Army, DSS, Civil Defence, the Benue State Civil Protection Guards, and local vigilante groups for their professionalism, resilience, and effective collaboration. I also acknowledge the critical support of local communities, whose cooperation contributed significantly to the success of this operation.

Seven suspects connected to the abduction are currently in custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations. I have directed security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend all remaining accomplices and dismantle the criminal networks responsible.

I am particularly concerned about the eight students among the victims who were en route to sit for their JAMB examinations. I have directed that arrangements be made with the relevant authorities to ensure they are given a fair opportunity to complete their examinations, while government extends necessary support to them.

All rescued persons have been directed to undergo immediate medical evaluation to ensure their full recovery.

Our administration remains firmly committed to the protection of lives and property across Benue State. We will continue to strengthen security operations, clear identified criminal hideouts, and ensure that our roads and communities are safe for all our people.

I also appreciate the Federal Government and the Inspector General of Police for their swift response and reinforcement during the operation.

Let me reiterate that we will not relent until lasting peace and security is fully restored across our dear state.

Yesterday, I joined family, friends, and well-wishers to celebrate an exceptional public servant, Mr. Bartholomew Geraga, Permanent Secretary, Government House Administration, Makurdi, as he wedded his beloved wife.

As he begins this new chapter, I encouraged the couple to build their home on the enduring values of love, unity, and mutual respect, and to remain focused despite external pressures.

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Geraga. May your union be blessed with peace, strength, and lasting happiness. Amen.
