"GRASSROOTS MY TERRAIN", Shija welcomes direct primaries - 2
Responding to a caller, Shija stated that, if voted into office, he would work assiduously with the State House of Assembly to establish an indigenous security outfit to protect the State against both internal and external attacks.
"It is obviously the way to go," he opined. "States in the south west have already established their security outfit known as Amotekun and I think it's doing a lot for them. We cannot afford to leave our people open to all manner of attacks from wherever."
He stressed that security is of optimum importance in all developmental initiatives and added that as Governor he would encourage and initiate robust discourse among traditional rulers in the State so as to enhance inter-tribal unity and understanding among the State's ethnic groups.
Shija reiterated his oft repeated position that Benue State is gifted with enough abundant natural resources which he would properly harness to place the State on a sound economic footing to kick start its development, which he said is long over due.
This, he explained, coupled with the high literacy level of the State which he said is at an average of 67%, which is one of the highest in the northern part of the country, Shija said he would deploy technological innovations to further boost the State's development and greatly improved it's revenue profile so as to clear all outstanding pensions, gratuities and other financial obligations of the State.
Shija regretted that Benue people had in the past rejected highly educated people as Governor and asked to be given a chance to offer service, promising that he would not disappoint Benue masses.
