Gov Zulum’s Education Drive Continues with Fresh ₦706.5m Scholarship Disbursement

Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved ₦706,594,787.50 for scholarship payments to students within and outside the state. The announcement was made today, 1st December 2025, by the Executive Secretary of the Borno State Scholarships Board, Dr. Bala Isa, during a press briefing in Maiduguri.

Dr. Isa described the intervention as a further demonstration of the Governor’s unwavering commitment to education and human capital development. According to him, the funds will support 300 orphans of fallen CJTF heroes, 206 students of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare, 34 students of Al-Ansar University, Borno students repatriated from Sudan, 104 nursing students’ professional examination fees, 523 nursing students’ upkeep allowances, and the second tranche for 304 STEM postgraduate students.

“This financial intervention underscores His Excellency’s commitment to ensuring that no Borno student willing to pursue education is left behind,” Dr. Isa said.

He also commended the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilbe, for his continued support to the Board and his role in enhancing student welfare across the state.

Reacting to the development, the National President of the National Union of Borno State Students (NUBOSS), Comrade Umar Alhaji Gana, praised Governor Zulum for “not relenting in the disbursement of bursaries,” while also appreciating the Commissioner and acknowledging Dr. Bala Isa’s effective coordination of scholarship activities.

His Excellency Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum’s Visit to Borno State Scholarship Students in India on the 24th November, 2025.

His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, CON, MNI, FNSE, FNIAE, once again demonstrated his exceptional commitment to the welfare and academic success of Borno State indigenes studying abroad during his recent visit to Sharda University in Noida, India.

During the visit, Governor Zulum met with Borno State Scholarship beneficiaries studying at Sharda University, where he interacted with them, listened to their concerns, and encouraged them to remain focused and disciplined in their academic pursuits. In his characteristic spirit of compassion and practical support, His Excellency presented each student with the sum of five hundred thousand naira (₦500,000). This gesture brought immense relief and motivation to the students, many of whom expressed deep appreciation for his unwavering fatherly support.

Governor Zulum’s generosity did not end in Noida. Recognizing that the progress of Borno State lies in the education and empowerment of its youths, His Excellency extended the same financial support to Borno State Scholarship students studying at Integral University in Lucknow, where he repeated his message of encouragement and commitment to their well-being.

Furthermore, the Governor ensured that Borno State Scholarship students studying in Malaysia also received the same assistance, reaffirming his longstanding dedication to equity and fairness in the administration of scholarship interventions.

Through these acts of kindness, His Excellency Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum has once again proven himself not only as a visionary leader but also as a compassionate father figure who remains deeply invested in the future of Borno State. His continued support serves as a powerful source of inspiration for all students and reinforces his resolve to build a generation of well-educated, globally exposed, and positively impactful indigenes.
