Nigeria Forest Security Service to Recruit 30,000 Across the Nation — Applications Open 11 November 2025
Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) hereby announces a major nationwide recruitment exercise to enlist 30,000 new personnel to its ranks. The application portal will open on 11 November 2025.
This bold initiative is part of NFSS's expanded efforts to bolster security in Nigeria’s forest reserves, counter illegal logging, protect wildlife, and support national efforts to combat insurgency, banditry, and criminal activities that often exploit bush and forested areas as hideouts.
Key Details & Objectives
Number of Positions: 30,000 new forest guards to be deployed nationwide
Application Start Date: 11 November 2025
Mandate:
• Protect forest reserves and biodiversity
• Patrol forest zones and adjacent communities
• Detect and prevent crimes within forest areas (illegal logging, poaching, encroachment, etc.)
• Support other security agencies in forested terrains
State Allocation: Positions will be distributed across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), in proportion to forest density and security needs
Supervising Bodies: The Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) and the Ministry of Environment will oversee the recruitment and training process
Training & Vetting: Applicants will undergo medical, physical, and background screening, followed by training in forest security, intelligence gathering, and inter-agency coordination
Requirements & Eligibility
Prospective applicants must meet the following:
1. Citizenship: Must be a Nigerian citizen
2. Age: Between 18 and 35 years
3. Education: Minimum of Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent
4. Physical & Mental Fitness: Must be fit for the rigors of field duty
5. Character: Clean criminal record; able to pass security vetting
6. Others: Ability to communicate, basic literacy, and willingness to serve in forest.
