*OFFICIAL STATEMENT*
_To the good people of Bassa Constituency, Kogi State_

I extend my sincere greetings to you all, with a deep sense of appreciation and reflection at this significant point in our collective political journey.

Following the conclusion of the Bassa Stakeholders party’s selection process for the Kogi State House of Assembly, Bassa Constituency, I acknowledge the outcome in good faith.

In keeping with my long-held principles, I have accepted the outcome of the established political process of our great party.

As a loyal party member, I recognize the importance of structure, discipline, and unity values that remain critical to our collective progress.

However, it is important to respectfully highlight a concern that continues to affect our democratic growth.

Despite consistent calls for women inclusion and active participation in politics, the reality on ground often reflects otherwise.

Many capable, committed, and qualified women are still being sidelined at crucial decision-making moments.

This is not just a personal experience, but a broader issue that deserves sincere attention if we are truly committed to equity, representation, and inclusive governance.

I remain hopeful that, going forward, deliberate efforts will be made to ensure that women are not only encouraged to participate but are also given fair opportunities to serve and lead.

I express my profound gratitude to my supporters, friends, family, associates, and the entire political family who stood firmly with me throughout this journey.

Your belief, sacrifice, and unwavering support mean everything.

At this moment, I urge calmness, unity, and continued engagement.

This is not an end, but a transition that presents new opportunities ahead.

Our relevance remains intact, and the relationships we have built will continue to shape our future.

I reaffirm my unwavering support for the party and the administration, and I remain committed to serving the good people of Bassa Constituency with dedication, passion, and integrity.

The future remains bright, and together, we will move forward with purpose.

Signed:
Queen Deborah AKOGUN

*A STRONGER BASSA LG STARTS WITH US*

Bassa Local Government is our heritage, our identity, and our responsibility.

What we choose to do today will define the future our children inherit tomorrow.

Our people are hardworking, talented, and full of potential.

Yet too many are still waiting for the opportunities and support they deserve.
This must change.
We cannot continue on the same path and expect different results.
It is time for leadership that is present, responsive, and truly connected to the people.
Leadership that does not stay distant, but remains accessible and accountable every step of the way.
I am stepping forward with a clear resolve:
To serve with integrity, to represent with courage, and to deliver with purpose.

*My commitment is to a Bassa LG where:*

✔️ Youth are not just hopeful, but gainfully engaged and productive
✔️ Women are not just included, but fully empowered
✔️ Schools are not just available, but truly functional and effective
✔️ Healthcare is not a struggle, but a reliable support for every family
✔️ Development is not selective, but reaches every corner of our land
✔️ Unity is strengthened and every voice is respected

This is about building trust again.
This is about restoring confidence in leadership.
This is about putting Bassa LG first always.
The responsibility is ours.
The opportunity is now.
And together, we will make it count.

16/04/2026

I am proud to have served as the Coordinator for the Educational Support Project across Bassa Local Government Area under the Renewed Hope Initiative, facilitated by Hon. Duro Meseko, APC National Deputy Publicity Secretary.

This project took us across the three districts — Bassa Nkomu, Ebira Mozum, and Bassa Nge — covering all 10 wards. We remained committed to ensuring that no child was left behind.

Beyond the distribution of educational materials, this initiative was about reminding every child that they matter. We engaged with students, encouraged them to stay committed to their education, and reassured them that their future is full of possibilities.

The experience was deeply moving. The joy and appreciation from the students, many of whom shared that this was their first time receiving such support, is something I will never forget. It strengthened my resolve and further ignited my passion to continue advocating for accessible and quality education in every part of Bassa.

This initiative is a clear reminder that true leadership is about service, sacrifice, and showing up for the people, especially those in hard-to-reach communities. Development must not be selective; it must be inclusive and far-reaching.

I sincerely appreciate Hon. Duro Meseko for facilitating this impactful project, and I commend all stakeholders, community leaders, teachers, and volunteers whose efforts made this success possible.

As we move forward, I remain committed to championing policies and initiatives that will improve educational infrastructure, support our teachers, and empower our children to thrive in a competitive world.

Together, we will continue to do more, because the future of Bassa depends on what we invest in today.

A NEW DAWN FOR BASSA LG THE TIME TO RISE IS NOW

Bassa LG is more than a place on the map it is our identity, our heritage, and our Home. The spirit of our people is strong, resilient, and full of untapped greatness. Now is the time to channel that strength into purposeful leadership and meaningful progress.

For too long, our potential has not matched our reality. But we are not a people destined for limitation we are a people built for growth, impact, and transformation. Our youth deserve opportunities that match their dreams. Our women deserve support that matches their strength. Our communities deserve development that reflects their value.

This movement is not about empty words it is about intentional action. It is about leadership that is present, leadership that understands, and leadership that delivers real results. Leadership that is close to the people, and accountable to them.

I envision a Bassa LG where:
✔️ Young people are equipped, skilled, and empowered
✔️ Women rise boldly in business, leadership, and influence
✔️ Education becomes a strong foundation for every child
✔️ Healthcare is accessible and reliable for all
✔️ Development reaches every ward and every community
✔️ Unity, peace, and fairness guide our progress

This is a collective mission. The future of Bassa LG will not be built by one voice, but by all of us standing together with a shared purpose. The time to act is now. The future is calling — and together, we will answer.
