KOSSAA warns of Illegal Er****on of Billboards and Outdoor Advertisement During Elections.

In its effort to restore order and decorum during the electioneering campaigns, the Kogi State Signage and Advertisement Agency has warned the Public against indiscriminate display of billboards and pasting of posters without formal approval from the Agency.

The General Manager of the Agency Mr. Osasiyi Richards said the Agency would not take it likely with anyone who violated the rules and regulations of the Agency.

He made this known on Monday on the Radio Kogi FM personality program " the State of Kogi"

According to him, as the election year is drawing closer, many billboards and posters would be seen everywhere across the State, without proper approval, saying the Agency would go all out to enforce its rules and regulations.

The Kogi State Signage and
Advertisement Agency (KOSSAA) is strongly warning business owners in the State against illegal and unauthorized billboards.

- Unauthorized Billboards:

Kogi State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KOSSAA) is warning business owners and the public against erecting or displaying billboards without permission.

The Agency will remove all unauthorized billboards and will impose penalties on owners who fail to comply with the Agency's rules and regulations.

- Fraudulent Assessments:

KOSSAA is alerting business owners to beware of fraudulent individuals or entities claiming to collect payments for signage advertisements and mobile advertising. All Payment in this regard should only be made to KOSSAA.

- *Guidelines for Political Advertisements*:

The agency has guidelines for Political Parties and Aspirants, requiring them to obtain permission before erecting or displaying campaign materials. Failure to comply will result in the removal of the billboards/ banners and legal action will be taken against anyone that violated these guidelines.

- *Reporting Unauthorized Activities*:

Kogi State Signage and Advertisement Agency Warns the General Public Against Illegal Assessments or Manual Assessments for any Collection on Signage Advertisements and Mobile Advertising Collections For 2026 Revenue Year.

Kogi State Signage and Advertising Agency would like to inform the public about ongoing fraudulent activities related to assessments and collections regarding signage advertisements and mobile advertising for the 2026 revenue year.

It has come to our attention that individuals and entities are conducting unauthorized and unlawful assessments claiming to represent official channels for collection purposes. These activities are misleading and can result in financial loss for unsuspecting businesses and individuals.

We want to emphasize the following points:

1. **Legitimacy**: All assessments and collections pertaining to signage and mobile advertisements should only be conducted by Kogi State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KOSSAA).

2. *Verification* If you receive any communication regarding assessments for the 2026 revenue year, please verify its authenticity by contacting the Agency.

3. **Contact Authorities**: Should you encounter any suspicious activity or receive questionable requests for payment, report it immediately to the Agency.

4. **Education**: We urged all businesses involved in advertising to stay informed about legitimate processes and to safeguard against fraud.

The Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo has charged the Kogi State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KOSSAA), to remain professional and non-partisan in its operations, stressing that the State Government will not play politics with revenue generation.

General Manager, Mr. Richard Osaseyi thanked the Commissioner for the visit and expressed appreciation for the Ministry’s continuous support. He outlined some of the operational challenges confronting the agency and assured the State Government of KOSSAA’s determination to meet and surpass its revenue expectations.

Hon. Fanwo gave the charge during a working visit to the corporate headquarters of KOSSAA in Lokoja, where he emphasized that all political parties and organizations must pay the legally approved fees for outdoor advertisements and signage across the state.
