After school, children need more than another screen to fill the hours before bedtime.
They need opportunities to rest, play, create, move, connect, and explore.
That doesn’t mean screens have no place. It simply means they shouldn’t become the default answer to every quiet moment or every “I’m bored.”
A good after-school routine can include a little bit of everything: a good story, creative play, a simple chore, outdoor movement, family conversation and, when appropriate, digital content that gives them something meaningful to engage with.
The goal isn’t to fill every minute of their afternoon, it's to give them a healthy mix of experiences that support how children learn, grow, and spend their time.
Save this for the school term and share it with a parent building a better after-school routine. 🤍
