I stepped out of the bathroom already in my bathrobe , yes, I was gonna enter college and live my life alone. I rolled my eyes, remembering Mom, and her words Yesterday.“ Emily, am gonna come over every weekend to check up on you "
I put on my clothes and brushed down my hair, applying some light make-up, I helped myself by bringing down my luggages and I found mom on the couch, she was sobbing.
" What's the matter Mom?" I said and she looked at me still sobbing.
" Am going to miss you Emily, you've been my little pony, but now you'll leave me"
What the Mom just say huh? " you've been my little pony " Mom that loves yelling and screaming, burning up the house with her voice.
In order to respect her mood, I didn't say a word rather I came to her and rubbed her back. "Mum it's fine, you will always see me by weekend" I said and she smiled, No, I said that to fulfill all righteousness. But deep down I was screaming at myself for letting those words come out freely.
" Come on let's go, before the road will be trafficked" She said and stood up swinging the keys. I carried few of my luggages and followed her.
After an hour and some minutes of driving, we finally reached the college, it was written boldly on the building. " Cinadoma college" I smiled. It has been my dream school and now it had come to pass . I halted from the car examining the view. I looked at Mom and she smiled at me.
” you're dream school “ She said and helped me out with my luggage. I had earlier gotten my campus number, on Saturday, and I had to go, After sometime of working, Mom got tired and held me. " I think I'll take My leave " she said and I hugged her.
" I'll miss you Mom " I said and she pecked me.
" Remember, no boyfriend " She said and I smiled, before she winked at me and left. I helped myself, and asked people for my room number.
" It's upstairs , the 3rd floor” someone said and I thanked the person. It's was actually a storey building. I moved up, and looked for room 45, It was just near the stairs, and I realized that I had just passed it. I carried my luggage and kept moving. I slowly inserted my card and the door swung open.
I peeped in and no one was there, three people actually shared a room, and I realized that I was the last to come in, my bed was already prepared, and the room was painted pink , I arranged my luggage and put few of my novels together, I lay down on the bed , I was very excited , at least Mom wasn't by my side to yell. I lay down shut my eyes. I was planning how my life was going to be in college, but my mind never got to having a boyfriend. " Eww"
I did not know when I slept off, I was excited last night and I did not sleep very well. I was interrupted with a creaky noise, and I jolted awake. I saw two girls standing with somethings in their hand and watching me. There mouth opened.
" Hi" one of them said and I smiled. Words were scarce in my mouth, and I knew they were the owners of the room. " Am Hazel Moore, you" She added.
" Am Emily Watson" I said and the other girl smiled.
" Am lory May and I guess you're new to this place " She said and I nodded. I was new to the place. My eyes felt heavy, Hazel came and sat beside me, she said. " Emily, welcome to hell " She said and the both of them laughed but I did not find anything she said funny.
She stood up and sat on her bed . " What do you mean by hell " I managed to say and she smiled.
" This school is really stressful " lory said and I furrow my brow in confusion.
" What?" I said again and they laughed so hard.
" Emily, you're with us now, you're gonna experience hell" Hazel said, I was still confused.
They brought out some things they both, some energy drinks and meat pie , they placed it on a table.
" Wanna eat, we bought it from a grocery store" Lory said and I nodded, I was hungry, out of excitement I didn't eat last night and this morning, and now I regretted it.
They gave me a drink and meat pie, and I started eating, I didn't care, I popped open the drink, and drank. " Why are you eating in a rush" she said and I realized that I was rushing.
" Out of excitement I didn't eat last night, or this morning " I said and they laughed out their lungs.
" I actually felt that way , but I couldn't skip my food, because of college" Hazel said and took a sip from her drink.
" I didn't even feel excited, I was going to leave my brother" lory said and I smiled.
" Such an emotional story " Hazel said and we laughed.
" So your course " Lory said, looking at me. " Am studying pharmacy " she added.
" Me, medicine " I said.
" Am law, " Hazel said. She obviously talked like lawyers. " Um Emily, your field" She added.
" Neurosurgeon" I said and she smiled.
" Such a nice course, farewell in your neuro lectures " she said.
" Is it that hard " She said and she rolled her eyes.
" I never said it was hard " she said and Lory chuckled.
" It's really good " She said and Hazel smiled. " Umm.. Emily, there's a party going on for the freshers, hope to see you there, luckily I got four tickets " she said handing one over to me.
" Thanks " I said and she nodded. I realized that I had finished my snack. I threw the bottle of drink and the wrap of words into the litter bin.
" So, what's our outfit tonight" I said and Hazel turned.
" Anything " Hazel said.
