It was a great pleasure to finally meet Ambassador Maureen P. Tamuno, PhD, Group Managing Director of the Abuja Investment Company Limited (AICL).
A highly accomplished diplomat and public servant, Ambassador Tamuno previously served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Jamaica, where she contributed significantly to strengthening Nigeria-Caribbean relations. Today, she continues to bring that wealth of experience to Abuja’s investment and development landscape.
As an Estate Surveyor and Valuer, I was particularly impressed by the portfolio of properties and investment opportunities AICL has to offer, especially for Nigerians in the diaspora. But on a lighter note, Abuja is great but Lagos still has plenty to offer, hands down! With LSDPC, LagosHOMS and LBIC, we are certainly not surrendering the real estate investment crown anytime soon, lol.
Our meeting also connects strongly with my work as Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Office of Diaspora Affairs. Jamaica is home to an important part of Africa’s historic diaspora, and I look forward to working closely with Ambassador Tamuno to strengthen that bridge and encourage more Jamaicans of African descent to visit, reconnect, invest and experience our beautiful city of Lagos.
It is exciting to witness the transformation taking place in the FCT under the Honourable Minister, His Excellency Nyesom Wike. Abuja is working, and Wike is working.
Kudos also to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for recognising the importance of putting capable people in positions where they can deliver. We have seen that same confidence in Lagos through Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, whose leadership continues to transform Lagos and position our city for greater global relevance.
For me, this is what leadership and public service should ultimately be about: finding capable people, creating opportunities, building bridges and delivering results that improve lives.
And finally, I must commend Ambassador Tamuno once again. Her elegance is evident, but what leaves an even greater impression is the substance behind it — a remarkable combination of intellect, diplomatic experience, strategic insight and proven leadership.
She represents the kind of accomplished African woman whose presence commands attention, but whose competence and impact command even greater respect.
It was truly a pleasure meeting you, Ambassador. I look forward to the bridges we can build together — from Abuja to Lagos, from Jamaica to Nigeria, and across our global diaspora.
The connections already exist. Now, we will turn them into opportunities that deliver real impact.
