HON. BARAKAT ODUNUGA-BAKARE(ESQ.) JOINS AND ENGAGES MOMTAN EXECUTIVES AND MEMBERS AT RANDLE MECHANICS VILLAGE
Today, Hon. Barakat Odunuga-Bakare (Esq.) joined the executives and members of the Motormechs and Technicians Association of Nigeria (MOMTAN), Lagos Chapter, at the Randle Branch, Randle Mechanics Village, Surulere, Lagos, for an important engagement with the leadership and members of the association.
The engagement provided an opportunity for meaningful interaction, appreciation and renewed commitment to strengthening the relationship between the political leadership of Surulere and the hardworking professionals who play a vital role in the local economy and the daily lives of residents.
MOMTAN, as a professional trade body and umbrella organisation representing vehicle repair mechanics and automobile technicians across Nigeria, remains an important stakeholder in the development of the automotive and transportation sector. Its members provide essential services to motorists, contribute to employment and skills development, and support the growth of small and medium-scale businesses within our communities.
Speaking during the engagement, the APC Surulere LGA Chairman, Hon. Sherif Balogun, highlighted the importance and significance of meeting with the executives and members of MOMTAN. He acknowledged the associationโs longstanding contributions to the political and democratic process, particularly its active participation and support during elections at both the general and local government levels.
Hon. Balogun further emphasised that the role of organised groups such as MOMTAN goes beyond their professional activities, noting that their collective strength, community reach and commitment make them valuable stakeholders in the political and socio-economic development of Surulere.
In her goodwill message, *Hon. Barakat Odunuga-Bakare (Esq.)* expressed her profound appreciation to the leadership and entire membership of MOMTAN for their steadfast support, goodwill and encouragement from the beginning of her political journey until now.
She acknowledged the immense contributions of mechanics and automobile technicians to the development of Surulere, noting that their daily efforts sustain businesses, keep vehicles on the roads and provide livelihoods for numerous families across the community.
Hon. Barakat also reiterated the importance of maintaining an open channel of communication between political representatives and professional associations. She stressed that meaningful development can only be achieved when the voices, concerns and aspirations of different segments of society are heard and adequately represented.
She assured the members of her continued commitment to engaging with stakeholders across Surulere and to supporting initiatives that promote economic empowerment, skills development, job creation, improved working conditions and sustainable opportunities for artisans and technicians.
The engagement further reinforced the need for collective responsibility in building a stronger, more prosperous and inclusive Surulereโone where hardworking residents, artisans, technicians, traders, professionals, youths and other stakeholders can thrive.
Hon. Barakat expressed her gratitude to the leadership and members of MOMTAN for the warm reception and for their continued confidence and support. She reaffirmed that the relationship between political leadership and grassroots stakeholders must remain rooted in mutual respect, accessibility, consultation and shared aspirations.
