The Lagos State Government has recorded an increasing number of false emergency calls made to emergency response lines, warning residents to desist from the unlawful act as it affects effective emergency operations across the State.

According to Honorable Commissioner Special Duties Mr Olugbenga Oyerinde stated during Y2026 Ministerial Press Briefing that fake distress calls, prank calls, and deliberate misinformation continue to hinder timely response to genuine emergencies, thereby putting lives and property at risk.

Residents were strongly advised to use emergency lines responsibly and only for real incidents requiring urgent attention.

According to the State Government, false emergency alerts divert critical resources, delay response time, and create unnecessary pressure on emergency responders and agencies working to protect lives and property in Lagos State.
