The Chief of Army Staff,
Nigerian Army Headquarters,
Abuja.
Dear Sir,
Plea for the Release of Prof. Arthur Ekpekpo
We, at Civil and Societal Accountability Partners, are writing to express our deep concern about the detention of one Prof. Arthur Ekpekpo, a respected academic and community leader from Delta State University Abraka. As a professor in the Department of Physics, Prof. Ekpekpo has made significant contributions to the academic community, shaping the minds of future generations.
Academic Contributions and Community Leadership
Prof. Ekpekpo's dedication to academic excellence has earned him recognition and respect. His leadership roles, including serving as the former Dean of the Faculty of Science, demonstrate his commitment to education and community development. His detention without trial has not only caused him undue hardship but also deprived the university community of his expertise and mentorship.
The President's Renew Hope agenda emphasizes the importance of justice, fairness, and human rights. We believe that releasing Prof. Ekpekpo would demonstrate the government's commitment to this agenda, fostering confidence in the President's administration. By freeing an innocent academic, you would be upholding the principles of justice and fairness that are essential to a thriving society.
Concerns about Due Process and Human Rights
The circumstances surrounding Prof. Ekpekpo's detention are unclear to us as a Global watchdog Partners, but it appears to be linked to his position as Overall President General of several communities under Ewu Kingdom. Despite being declared wanted by the military high command, his detention has raised serious questions about due process and the rule of law. We are concerned that his continued detention without trial undermines the rule of law and human rights.
In light of the above, we humbly request that you consider the release of Prof. Ekpekpo. We urge you to expedite his release or ensure a speedy trial, should there be any substance to the allegations against him. This would not only uphold the principles of justice and fairness but also demonstrate the government's commitment to the Renew Hope agenda of the President, H.E. Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.
In releasing Prof. Ekpekpo, you would be promoting justice, fairness, and human rights, aligning with the Renew Hope agenda. We eagerly await your positive response and look forward to a swift resolution to this matter.
Yours sincerely,
Emudiaga Clinton Esegine,
