Police arrest of suspected kidnappers in Nasarawa

Police operatives attached to Mararaba ‘A’ Division have arrested the trio of Babangida Abdullahi 29 yrs, Mohammed Abubakar 27 yrs and Yakubu Sani 30 yrs all males of A*o B Mararaba, Karu LGA, Nasarawa State.

The suspects allegedly conspired among themselves and placed a call across to one Ibrahim Idris of the same address, an uncle to one of the suspects.
They threatened to kidnap him if he doesn’t pay a ransom of Two Million Naira.

Scared of being kidnapped, the victim dropped the total sum requested by the suspects at their preferred location; after which they picked it up and shared it among themselves.

The suspects have all confessed to the commission of the crime and effort is ongoing to arrest one member of the syndicate who escaped arrest by whiskers.

Update on the Ban of Ethnic vigilante groups and other similar organisations in Nasarawa State

In compliance with Executive Order No.1 2024 on the proscription of Ethnic vigilante groups and other similar organisations, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shehu Umar Nadada psc, mni wishes to inform the general public that the Police command has received two hundred and sixty-seven (267) pairs of uniforms, one hundred and two (102) pieces of black belts and one hundred and eighty-nine (189) pieces of infantry lanyards from Kungiyar Zaman Lafiya Nomad vigilante group.

Furthermore, five hundred and sixty-four (564) black berets, three hundred and thirty-nine (339) pieces of black/ ten (10) white lanyards and two (2) identification cards were also received from the aforementioned vigilante group.

The Commissioner of Police hereby calls on those who are yet to comply with the Executive Order to do so on or before the expiration of the two-week ultimatum; as the Command shall ensure that the Ban is enforced to the latter.

Arrest of suspected Motorcycle Snatcher and recovery of stolen motorcycle

Police operatives attached to Masaka Division have arrested one Ibrahim Isiaka ‘M’ of Riverside, Masaka. The suspect allegedly boarded a commercial motorcycle to convey him to Bigmali along Jankanwa road Masaka; unknown to the commercial motorcyclist that his ‘passenger’ had conspired with one other to dispossess him of his motorcycle.

While on transit, Ibrahim Isiaka used a knife and slit the throat of the commercial motorcyclist and snatched the motorcycle.

Police operatives swiftly rushed the victim to the hospital, where he was stabilized and responding to treatment.

A thorough manhunt led to the arrest of the suspect and recovery of the stolen motorcycle, while effort is ongoing to arrest the other suspect at large.

Ban of Ethnic vigilante groups and other similar organizations in Nasarawa State

In Reference to the Executive Order No.1 the 2024 on the proscription of Ethnic vigilante groups and other similar organizations, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shehu Umar Nadada psc, mni wishes to inform the good people of Nasarawa State, most especially the Kungiyar Zaman Lafia Nomad vigilante, Bassa vigilante, Eggon vigilante and other “similar organizations” which includes any association, movement or group of persons or society in whatever name called or form, with the aim and objectives of providing security amongst particular ethnic group within Nasarawa State through the use of force or arms that their activities or operations is hereby banned.

To this end, the Commissioner of Police has ordered all Area Commanders, Divisional Police officers, Heads of Department/Tactical teams in the Command to carry out full enforcement of the Ban.
He therefore warn all members of the groups to hand over all uniforms and accoutrements in their possession to the Area Commanders or Divisional Police officers closest to their areas within two weeks from the date of this pronouncement; as anyone caught operating or found to be in possession of prohibited fi****ms will be arrested and made to bear the full wrath of the law.
