NAPHDA holds one-day media orientation for 25 journalists, aimed at promoting M-R integrated campaign.
In furtherance to the commitment of the Nasarawa State Government to strengthen the healthcare system in the state, the Nasarawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NAPHDA) in collaboration with other development partners trained journalists to improve their reporting skills and be committed towards mobilization activities ahead of the upcoming Measles-Rubella vaccination (M-R v) campaign.
The training which held yesterday in NAPHDA hall, Lafia aimed at equipping journalists to create awareness, educating and mobilizing the public to improve vaccine uptake and other PHC services.
The Nasarawa State Commissioner of the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Ibrahim Tanko called on the participants to be attentive. He described them as one of the vital arms of educating and mobilizing the public on Measles-Rubella campaign coming up on the 4th October, 2025.
In his remarks, the Executive Secretary NAPHDA, Dr. Usman Iskilu Saleh, who was represented by the Director Immunization, Comrade Ismaila Ayuba Oko, urged the participants to make use of the opportunity to get use to some terminology to ensure that the right message is passed to the public.
Earlier, the Director Health Education and Social Mobilization, Mall. Muhammed Abubakar Ibrahim, stressed the importance of journalists in the areas of keeping the children and the society at large healthy. He further tasked them to play a vital role in terms of mobilization, in ensuring that the MR campaign will record massive success.
The training featured with presentations, interactive session with participants as well as questions and answers.
In attendance were; the State Coordinator NPHCDA, WHO STO, AFENET consultant, Director of programs NBS, reporters from; NBS, NTA, FRCN, Equity TV, The Nation, Blueprint, Maloney FM, Option FM, Breeze FM among many others.
