AGBOYI-KETU HONOURS ADETOLA’S FIRST YEAR MILESTONE WITH THANKSGIVING AMIDST SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS

Despite a heavy downpour on Monday, July 27, 2026, the Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area celebrated a year of what officials call "purposeful leadership and impactful governance" under Hon. (Mrs.) Adetola Adunni Abubakar. The council transformed the adverse weather into a symbolic "shower of blessings," holding a special Thanksgiving Service to honor the administration's first anniversary and offer gratitude for divine guidance.

The event drew a diverse crowd of political leaders, royal fathers, councillors, management staff, religious leaders, market and youth representatives, as well as residents and well-wishers—all gathering in a spirit of gratitude.

In her address, Chairman Abubakar thanked God for the administration's achievements over the past year and praised the community—including traditional rulers, religious figures, staff, and stakeholders—for their unwavering support. She reaffirmed her commitment to inclusive governance and sustainable development, pledging that the first year's successes would serve as a foundation for even greater projects aimed at improving residents' quality of life.

Highlights of the celebration featured a spirited praise and worship session led by popular indigenous minister Adeyinka Alaseyori, followed by sermons and prayers from Rev. Olatunde of First Baptist Church, Kosofe, and Imam Elegbede Musa, who offered blessings for peace, unity, and wisdom.

Apex community leaders, including State Treasurer Hon. The event included cutting of the anniversary cake and a group photograph session to mark the milestone. Council Manager Mr. Akinbami Samson delivered a vote of thanks, saying that the Thanksgiving Service underscored the administration's deep sense of gratitude and its pledge to continue delivering responsive, people-centered governance in the years ahead.
The event concluded with closing prayers from the Chief Imam of Agboyi-Ketu, followed by refreshments and fellowship.

ADETOLA DISTRIBUTES FREE GCE FORMS TO 500 INDIGENT STUDENTS IN BOLD EDUCATION PUSH

In a significant move to boost education access, Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Chairman, Hon. Mrs. Adetola Adunni Abubakar, has distributed free General Certificate Examination (GCE) forms to 500 indigent students across the council area.

The initiative, aimed at supporting academic advancement and easing the financial burden on parents, targets students who would otherwise be unable to afford the examination fees.

A 2-Day rigorous screening process conducted by the Council's Education Department ensured the forms reached the most deserving candidates.

According to the Council boss, the goal is to boost tertiary education enrollment, enhance academic performance, and inspire a stronger culture of learning within the community. That is why this year, the number of beneficiaries were increased to 500, compared to the 300 candidates who benefited last year.

"Education is the bedrock of knowledge," Hon. Abubakar stated, reaffirming her administration's commitment to youth empowerment and academic excellence. She also reiterated that the opportunity would open doors for our young people to pursue higher education and build brighter futures for themselves and the community.
She encouraged beneficiaries to take the examination seriously, noting that the council would continue to track their performance and explore further support for outstanding candidates.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the gesture, pledging to deliver outstanding results that would make the LCDA proud.

AGBOYI-KETU LCDA MARKS 2026 LAGOS TREE PLANTING DAY WITH CALL FOR CLIMATE ACTION

Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area joined the Lagos State Government on Tuesday to mark the 2026 Tree Planting Day, hosting a ceremony at Pastor Adegboyega Memorial Nursery and Primary School under the theme "Trees for Lagos: Our City, Our Responsibility."

The annual initiative aims to promote environmental sustainability and encourage residents to take ownership of preserving the state's green cover.

Agboyi-Ketu LCDA Chairman, Hon. (Mrs.) Adetola Adunni Abubakar, called on residents to actively participate in tree planting and ensure proper nurturing of saplings, describing environmental conservation as a shared duty.

Delivering Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu's keynote address, Abubakar stressed that tree planting remains one of the most effective tools for combating climate change, improving air quality, preserving biodiversity, and fostering healthier communities.

"Every tree planted is an investment in a cleaner, greener, and more resilient Lagos," the Governor's message read.

Mrs. Layeni Kikelomo, representing the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, reiterated the state government's dedication to afforestation, reforestation, and climate resilience. She urged all 57 Local Governments and LCDAs, institutions, and residents to properly nurture planted trees.

"Achieving a greener Lagos requires collective efforts from both government and the people," she said.

The event featured cultural performances by school pupils showcasing Nigeria's Northern, Western, and Southern heritage. The highlight was the symbolic tree planting, with Chairman Abubakar planting the first commemorative tree, followed by Mrs. Layeni, Vice Chairman Hon. Yomi Ganiyu, and SLG Hon. Tajudeen Akinyemi.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by the HOD Environmental Health Services, reinforcing the Council's commitment to environmental conservation and Lagos State's green expansion goals.
