DR. Hafiz Ibrahim, PhD, CertIOSH, AMRSC EXPANDS REVOLUTIONARY ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE IN CALL FOR GOVERNOR RADDA’S CONTINUITY IN 2027.
Under the executive direction of His Excellency, Malam Dikko Radda , PhD, CON, Katsina State has emerged as Northern Nigeria’s foremost subnational paradigm for clean energy transition, municipal modernization, and sustainable industrial growth.
Driving this technical overhaul, the Special Adviser on Power and Energy, Hafiz Ibrahim, PhD, CertIOSH, AMRSC. continues to execute the administration’s foundational framework:
Powering the Vision• Energising Katsina 2027.
To enforce grid stability, lower state overhead, and stimulate enterprise, the Office of Power and Energy has delivered over 30MW in renewable installations, aggressively targeting 70MW+:
🔹 State Governance & Administrative Hubs:Commissioned a 1MW Solar PV system paired with a 1MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the State Secretariat and a 1MW Solar PV system at General Muhammadu Buhari House, alongside complete solarization across key MDAs, KATDICT (40KW), the SDGs Office (20KW), and the Department of Power and Energy (20KW).
🔹 Healthcare & Utility Resilience:Deployed a 300KW Solar Plant (300KWh BESS) at Katsina General Hospital alongside specialized solar infrastructure at General Hospital Kankia, accelerating ongoing solar integration across General Hospitals in all 34 LGAs.
🔹 Broadcasting Infrastructure:Fully solarized Aminu Abdullahi House (Katsina State Radio), expanding daily transmission capacity from 6 to 18+ hours, alongside ongoing power system upgrades at the Katsina State Television Authority (KTTV).
🔹 Hydroelectric & Utility-Scale Hybridization:Flagged off the €1M+ 1MW Danja Dam Mini-Hydroelectric Project backed by the French Treasury, while hybridizing the 10MW Lambar Rimi Wind Farm with an added 10MW Solar PV capacity to realize a 20MW utility-scale generation asset.
🔹 Gas & E-Mobility Transition:Commissioned the state's pioneer L-CNG Hub Station (2,400m³/hr CNG, 23-ton LNG capacity), integrated 20 presidential CNG tricycles out of 200, deployed 500 electric tricycles, 30 hybrid/EV intercity buses, and sanctioned 3,000 electric motorcycles for rural educators.
🔹 Youth Empowerment & Municipal Illumination:Installed over 100km of solar-powered streetlights across the Katsina metropolis and regional corridors, while certifying 120 local indigenes in solar installation engineering at the Technology Incubation Centre.
