FOR NIHAL
The tragic death of young Nihal Usman Shamaki at St. Louis Secondary School, Kano, has shocked and saddened many people across Kano State and beyond. This heartbreaking incident raises serious questions that demand urgent answers and must not be swept under the carpet.
According to the account provided by her family, Nihal was allegedly punished for being late to prayer and was made to kneel down. It is further alleged that she was left unattended for several hours before she was eventually found dead. Equally disturbing are reports that family members who rushed to the school upon receiving the devastating news were denied access to the location where their daughter was.
These allegations are deeply troubling and require a thorough, transparent, and independent investigation. Every child deserves safety and protection while in school, and every parent deserves the assurance that their children are in safe hands.
We therefore call on the Kano State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, relevant education authorities, law enforcement agencies, and all concerned stakeholders to immediately investigate the circumstances surrounding Nihal's death and ensure that justice is served.
Nihal's family deserves answers.
The public deserves the truth.
Most importantly, Nihal deserves justice.
Until all facts are established and investigations are concluded, we believe it is necessary for the school to be temporarily closed to preserve evidence and prevent any possible interference with the investigative process.
No parent should send a child to school and receive news of their death under unclear circumstances. We stand firmly with Nihal's family in their pursuit of justice, accountability, and the truth.
Justice for Nihal.
