KANO STATE POLICE COMMAND ARRESTS A WANTED NOTORIOUS THUGGERY GANG LEADER 'DAWA DAN KAMSUSI', 9 OTHERS FOR VARIOUS CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES

On 5th January 2026, the Kano State Police Command received a letter of complaint from Hannu Da Yawa Youth Development Association Bachirawa (HADAYA) regarding public outcry by residents of Bachirawa, Kurna, Rijiyar Lemo, Zango, Kunture and neighboring communities about the activities of a criminal group led by 'Dawa Dan Kamsusi' specializing in armed robbery, shop and house breaking, theft, drug trafficking, and destruction of vigilante group facilities.

2. The letter partly reads: "Despite repeated complaints and concerns raised by community members, these criminal activities persist and appear to be escalating. I respectfully appeal to your office to urgently investigate these allegations and take appropriate action in accordance with the law to restore peace and security."

3. Upon receipt of the complaint, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, sfipma, mnim, mnips, directed a team from the Anti-Daba Unit of the Command to arrest the perpetrators. The team, under the direction of the CP, swung into action with renewed vigor and determination.

4. Sustained efforts coupled with intelligence-led operations resulted in the arrest of the prime suspect, Sunusi Dawa Kamsusi, 'm', 26 years old, of Bachirawa Quarters Kano, with recovery of three knives and a suspected charm. Nine other members of his syndicate were trailed and arrested.

5. During investigation, the suspect confessed to series of armed robberies, mobile phone snatching, shop and house breaking, and theft, among others. Thirty (30) people have so far lodged complaints against the suspects. Suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

6. The Commissioner of Police commended the police officers who conducted the operations and appreciated community members for their support and cooperation, which led to the success of the investigation.

*KANO STATE POLICE COMMAND CARRIES OUT SUCCESSFUL OPERATIONS AGAINST DRUG TRAFFICKING AND ABUSE*

In line with the directives and guidance of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, on sustained intelligence-led visibility patrol, the Kano State Police Command has made significant breakthroughs in its efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse in the State. In a series of operations, Police Officers have arrested four suspects with dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa.

2. On January 25, 2026, at about 03:00pm, team of Police Officers attached to Fagge Police Division while on intelligence-led surveillance patrol at Triumph Roundabout, intercepted a tricycle containing two suspected sacks, when search was conducted, 157 parcels of dry leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa were recovered. Two suspects: Amadu Ado, 'm', and Salisu Lurwanu, 'm', both of Kulliya Village, Bunkure LGA, Kano, were arrested.

3. In another operation, on January 24, 2026, at about 05:25pm, the Command's Rapid Response Team (RRT) under the direction of the Commissioner of Police, conducted a raid at some black spots across Kano Metropolitan Area, leading to the arrest of Usman Hamisu 'M', 22, and Auwal Abdullahi 'M', 25, in possession of 40 pieces of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa, 20 pieces of rubber solutions, half a roll of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa, and 10 small bottles of "Suck and Die".

4. The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, sfipma, mnim, mnips, masis, commended the efforts of the officers involved in these operations and urges the good people of Kano State to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest Police Station or through the Command's emergency numbers: 08032419754, 08123821575, or 09029292926.

5. The Kano State Police Command reaffirms its commitment to combating drug trafficking and abuse in the State and assures the public of its continued efforts to ensure a safe and secure environment for all.

Specialists:
Dole ne mai nema ya kasance da akwai sakamako hudu (4) ciki har da Turanci da Lissafi a zama daya ko biyu. Hakanan ana bukatar aƙalla shekaru uku (3) na kwarewa da Trade Test a fannin da ya shafi aikinsa.

RECRUITMENT OF 50,000 CONSTABLES INTO THE NIGERIA POLICE FORCE: Portal opens; applications invited as PSC, NPF commit to a seamless process.

The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is pleased to announce the commencement of recruitment of Fifty Thousand (50,000) Police Constables into the Nigeria Police Force, as directed by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

Following this Presidential directive aimed at strengthening community policing, enhancing internal security and expanding the manpower base of the Nigeria Police Force, the Commission has approved the opening of the recruitment portal for applications from eligible Nigerians.

Qualifications:
General Duty cadre applicants must be holders of GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO or their equivalents with
a minimum of five (5) credits (including
English Language and Mathematics) in not
more than two sittings.

Specialists cadre applicants must be holders of GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO or their equivalents with a minimum of four (4) credits (including English Language and Mathematics) in not
more than two sittings. A minimum of three (3) years’ experience and Trade Tests in relevant fields/areas is required.

Eligibility:
Interested candidates must:
✓ Be Nigerian citizens by birth
✓ Be aged between 18 and 25 years for General Duty; 18 to 28 years for Specialists
✓ Be medically, physically and psychologically fit
✓ Not be less than 1.67m (male) and 1.64m (female) in height (for General Duty only)
✓ Meet other requirements as shall be specified on the recruitment portal

The recruitment portal will be open from Monday, 15 December 2025 to Sunday, 25 January 2026.

All applications must be submitted ONLINE through the official recruitment portal: www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.
