KANO AGRICULTURAL SUPPLY COMPANY LIMITED (KASCO)
DISCLAIMER / OFFICIAL STATEMENT
The attention of Kano Agricultural Supply Company Limited (KASCO) has been drawn to a publication by the online news platform *Solacebase*, alleging financial misreporting and inconsistencies in the Company’s operational activities. In this regard, Management wishes to provide the following clarifications in the interest of transparency and public enlightenment:
1. The issues highlighted in the said publication largely relate to the 2019 operational year, which was under a previous administration and does not reflect the activities of the current management.
2. It is pertinent to note that KASCO’s accounts were not audited for a period exceeding five (5) years, covering 2019 to 2023, until the emergence of the current administration.
3. Upon assumption of office, His Excellency, in his firm commitment to transparency and accountability, directed the immediate audit of all outstanding financial years. Since then, KASCO’s accounting and auditing processes have been conducted regularly and without interruption.
4. In addition to allowing the Office of the Auditor-General of Kano State to discharge its constitutional responsibility of auditing all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), His Excellency further directed the Ministry of Agriculture to engage Independent External Auditors to audit the outstanding years of KASCO and submit comprehensive reports.
5. Consequently, the findings contained in the report issued by the Office of the Auditor-General, and subsequently reported by *Solacebase*, emanated directly from this comprehensive audit exercise ordered by His Excellency.
6. All identified irregularities have since been formally reported to the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission and are currently before a court of competent jurisdiction.
7. Management of KASCO wishes to clearly state that these irregularities have no connection whatsoever with the current administration. On the contrary, the current administration deserves commendation for upholding due process, permitting independent audits without interference, and ensuring that the findings were made public in the interest of accountability.
8. Furthermore, it is worthy of note that under the current administration, KASCO has undergone significant institutional reforms, including improved operational efficiency, strengthened financial controls and discipline, enhanced profit generation, and the consistent provision of quality agricultural inputs—achievements that had not been recorded for several years.
KASCO assures the general public of its commitment to operating in strict adherence to the principles of Transparency, Accountability, and Openness, as championed by the current administration.
