JEMA’A LG TO PARTNER NGOs,INDIVIDUALS ON YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

The executive chairman Jema’a local government, Comrade Yunana Markus Barde has said that his council is willing to partner any organization and individuals with interest to providing skill acquisition and empowerment training opportunities to the teaming youths and other vulnerable persons in the area.

The chairman dropped the hint when the wife of the Anglican Bishop of Kafanchan Diocese and President, Mothers’ Union and Women’s Guild, Mrs Nana Rahila Dogo paid him an advocacy visit to his office on Monday.

He maintained that youth and women empowerment programs have become more imperative now than ever before in view of its promise to provide employment, fight the menace of poverty and curtail the raising cases of insecurity in the country.

Comrade Yunana Markus Barde also joined others to advocate for the inclusion of entrepreneurial studies in schools curriculum and make it compulsory subject in all the secondary schools and tertiary institutions across the country, arguing that it would be useful if students while in school acquired skills to establish productive ventures and aid guarantee their financial independence upon graduation.

He commended the wife of the Anglican Bishop of Kafanchan Diocese for the foresight in providing empowerment training for secondary school children as well as orphans , widows and other vulnerable individuals across communities in the local government and assured her of the Council’s support.

Speaking earlier, the wife of the Anglican Bishop of Kafanchan Diocese and President Mothers’ Union and Women’s Guild, Mrs Nana Rahila Dogo said she was in the chairman’s office to congratulate him and seek his support for her women and youth empowerment project which she explained was tailored towards making them more productive and economy self reliance.

She said the prevailing social and economic developments in the country today and the quest to ensure a better future especially for children with a challenging background has prompted her to expand the program to include secondary schools children.

JEMA’A CHAIR URGES SECURITY AGENCIES TO HELP END CRIME IN LGA

The executive chairman, Jema’a local government, Comrade Yunana Markus Barde has requested the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other sister Security establishments operating in the area to scale up their aggressive
surveillance and other intelligence operation geared to end the toxic menace of the criminal elements obstructing the climate of peace and smooth business operations in the local government.

The chairman made the request when the Divisional Officer of the Corps, Jema’a local government Division, Chief Superintendent of Corps, (CSC) Onoja Patrick paid him a congratulatory visit on Friday.

Comrade Yunana Markus Barde observed that there is often experience an upsurge is crime activities in the month of December because of the Christmas and other celebrations, describing the development as most unfortunate and complete contradiction of the religious intent of the season.

He lamented the increasing activities of bandits , kidnappers and other terrorist groups across the country which he said was worrisome and maintained that crushing them requires a strong will and inter-agency cooperation among the security establishments such as intelligence sharing and join patrol.

The chairman assured that peace and security remains the cardinal priority of his administration and promised that his council would not spare any effort to ensure that people’s lives and property are secured in the area.

Comrade Yunana Markus Barde attributed the relative peace currently being enjoyed in the local government to the consistent effort of the security agencies and other community peace actors and encouraged the people to embrace one another in love.

Earlier, the Divisional Officer, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Jema’a Division, CSC Onoja Patrick told the chairman they were in his office to pledge their unalloyed loyalty and allegiance and to as well assured him of their support in his quest to make the area safe for all.

CSC Onoja Patrick again informed the chairman that the Division has carried out successful operations leading to the arrest of suspected railway line vandals and have in conjunction with the Sexual Assault Referral Centre, Kafanchan arrested and prosecuted several rapists and other gender violence offenders.

ASSOCIATION OF DISABLE COMMENDS JEMA’A CHAIR FOR APPOINTING MEMBER

The National Join Associations of Persons with Disability in Jema’a local government has commended the Council’s chairman, Comrade Yunana Markus Barde for his well thought out decision to appoint their member to serve in his administration.

The Association made the commendation through its branch Vice Chairman, Comrade Yohana Ishaku Dangana during a courtesy visit to the chairman’s office on Tuesday.

Comrade Ishaku Dangana described the appointment of Denis Yashim Kanwai,a physically challenged person as Supervisor Department Administration and Finance Jema’a Local Government as historic and a true display of the chairman’s love for the persons with disability and his willingness to harness their potential in the task of building a prosperous Jema’a local government.

He expressed optimism that the chairman would deliver on his mandate as promised the people during the electioneering campaign just as he did when he served the people of the area in similar capacity as Interim Management Committee chairman.

On his part, the Southern Kaduna Coordinator, National Join Association of Persons with Disability, Comrade Samson David used the visit to appeal to government at all levels and the organized private sector to consider them for employment as according to him majority of them have the required academic qualifications for appointment in all the sectors just like others.

He informed the chairman that the Association plans to engage the Provost Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, Professor Alexander Kure for the possibility to exempt the physically challenged from paying school fees as obtained in Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic Zaria and requested him to help in pushing their request to success.

This done he said would encourage persons with disability especially in southern kaduna to acquire higher education and enable them contribute their quota towards national development.

Responding, the executive chairman Jema’a local government, Comrade Yunana Markus Barde said he was flattered by the outpouring of goodwill and support from across communities and stakeholders in the local government and reiterated his administration commitment to enhance the living conditions of people with Disability and other vulnerable groups especially in the rural communities through skill acquisition and empowerment programs.

JEMA’A CHAIR TASKS SOKAPU ON PEACE

The chairman Jema’a Local Government council, Comrade Yunana Markus Barde has urged Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU) youth wing to tailor their activities towards peace building and strengthening healthy inter-communal relations to warrant a conducive climate of development to thrive in the region.

The chairman said this on Monday when SOKAPU youth wing officials Jema’a Local Government branch paid a solidarity visit to his office in Kafanchan.

Comrade Barde maintained that most of the violent activities across communities are perpetrated by the youths hence he charged the youth body to help identify and fish out the bad eggs amongst them to pave the way for peace in southern kaduna.

He said the youths are the pillars of the society and partners in progress and therefore urged the organization to support the on-going Urban Renewal Project embarked upon by the kaduna state government to make Kafanchan a beautiful city.

Comrade Yunana Markus Barde described SOKAPU as a credible organization that represents the voice and interests of the people of southern kaduna and advised that the organization should remain political neutral and support the government in power to enable the region benefits from government’s transformational interventions.

Earlier in his address, the Coordinator, Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU) youth wing Jema’a Local Government Branch, Comrade Sunday Daniel said the purpose of the visit was to felicitate with the chairman and pledge their loyalty and support to his council.

Comrade Sunday Daniel pleaded with the chairman to carry the youths along in his administration and assured him that the organization was ready to partner his council especially in the areas of youths empowerment and poverty alleviation.

In their separate remarks, Comrades Boniface Ubandoma and Nyinom James Kure said Comrade Barde’s victory at the poll was sequel his strides when he served the local government as Interim Management Committee (IMC) Chairman and advised him to do more for the people to justify the mandate given to him.

TUM NIKYOP CONGRATULATES JEMA’A CHAIR

His Highness, the Tum Nikyop , Mallam Tanko Tete has congratulated Comrade Yunana Markus Barde for his emergence as the executive chairman of jema’a local government.

The Chief’s message was contained in an official letter presented to the chairman during a thank-you visit by the representatives of Kaninkon chiefdom on Monday.

Presenting the letter to the chairman, the District Head of Kaninkon, Mr Williams Gimba described comrade Barde as a hardworking and sincere political leader who has served the local government well as Interim Management Committee (IMC) chairman.

Earlier, the Tafidan Kaninkon, Builder Monday Barau Madaki explained they were at the chairman’s office to thank and commend him most especially for the wisdom in choosing one of their illustrious son, Mr Reuben Sabo Bauna to serve in his Council as Supervisor, Department of Works and Infrastructure.

The Tafidan Kaninkon said comrade Barde has by the gesture written his name on the good book of Kaninkon people and promised their continued support and prayers to enable him succeed in his quest to better the living condition of the poor in the rural communities.

Responding, the chairman Jema’a local government area Comrade Yunana Markus Barde thanked Kaninkon community for their support during the elections and promised to reciprocate the confidence entrusted on him by executing programs that would direct bearing on the living condition of the people.

Comrade Barde expressed dissatisfaction over the continued cases of farmlands destruction by some herdsmen with the evil intent to cause disharmony in the area and vowed that his Council would not spare any one caught engaging in activities that are inimical to peace and people’s wellbeing.

He again promised to work in synergy with traditional rulers and other key community stakeholders to promote peaceful coexistence in order to attract meaningful development to the local government.

JEMA’A LG CHAIR APPOINTS COUNCIL MEMBERS

THE Executive Chairman Jema’a Local Government area, Comrade Yunana Markus Barde has appointed Mr Isa Musa from Kafanchan Ward A as the Council’s Secretary.

Others appointed to serve in the council include; Mr Reuben Sabo, Kaninkon Ward, Supervisor, Works Department, Mr Nuhu Guda, Barde Ward, Supervisor Department of Agriculture and Forestry, Mr Dennis Kambai , Maigizo Ward, Supervisor, Administration and Finance Department, Hon Andrew Mabin , Godogodo Ward, Senior Adviser General Services while the Vice Chairman of the Local Government Hon Christie Yori Usman would double as Supervisor, Social Development Department.

The appointments take immediate effect.

Their appointments are sequel their good political records, knowledge, trust worthiness and vast experiences and it is hoped that they would bring all to bear in the discharge of their responsibilities in other to ensure a successful implementation of the administration’s policies.

The chairman congratulated them and wished them well in the service of the people.

This is the first set of appointments as others would follow subsequently.

JEMA’A LG STAFF PASS VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON COUNCIL’S CHAIR

Staff of Jema’a Local Government area have expressed confidence that the new council chairman, Comrade Yunana Markus Barde means well and would fulfil his promises to the people.

The branch chairman, National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Jema’a Local Government, Comrade Markus Henry stated this when he led officials of the Union on a courtesy visit to the chairman’s office on Tuesday.

Comrade Henry commended the chairman’s concern for staff welfare which he said was shown by his approval for the payments of DTAs and other genuine staff claims.

“ You are Just two weeks in office, but we are already celebrating because you have matched your words with action by your approval for the payment of staff claims and this would motivate us to put in our best” he said.

He again used the opportunity to present other issues of concern to staff which he said include promotion of staff in the traditional council who have been stagnant for about 15 years, payment of outstanding three months salary arrears for District Heads, increase burial assistance to families of deceased staff and payment of Christmas and Sallah bonuses amongst others.

Other union officials who spoke during the visit praised the chairman’s administrative initiatives and promised the staff unflinching support and loyalty.

Responding, the Executive Chairman Jema’a Local Government, Comrade Yunana Markus Barde thanked the Union for the visit and reminded them of their duty which he said was not to only protect and struggle for staff welfare but to as well guide them in the right direction and also help in moving the organization to success.

The chairman said he considered the people’s mandates to represent a genuine yearning for development and increased social and economic wellbeing and promised he would not disappoint the people.

He again promised to look into the issues presented by the union and directed them to immediately compute and forward the three months outstanding salary arrears for the District Heads and their supporting staff for the Council’s consideration.

JEMA’A LG CHAIR PROMISES GOOD LEADERSHIP

The incoming Executive Chairman Jema’a Local Government, Comrade Yunana Markus Barde has again reiterated his determination to provide practical democratic leadership and work tirelessly for the betterment of the people in the area.

The chairman made this known shortly after taking over the mantle of leadership from the outgoing Overseer in a brief ceremony held at the chairman’s office, in Kafanchan on Tuesday.

Comrade Barde said he was aware that the task of fixing Jema’a local government was enormous and requires teamwork to succeed hence he called on the people to accord him the needed support to enable him deliver on his campaign promises.

He thanked the outgoing Overseer for the service he rendered to the people of Jema’a Local Government and wished him God’s guidance and success in his future endeavours.

Hon Yunana Markus Barde also used the occasion to congratulate the incoming Ward councillors and advised them to put far aside party considerations and concentrate on providing credible grassroot representation and purposeful leadership that would lead to increase social and economic prosperity of the people especially in the rural communities.

In his farewell address, the outgoing Overseer Jema’a Local Government area, Mr Ibrahim Dayibu Abdullahi thanked Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai for the privilege to serve the people of Jema’a Local Government as overseer and described his four months administration as a rewarding experience.

Speaking on the new chairman, mr Dayibu said he has no doubt about the capabilities of comrade Barde to provide good leadership as according to him his emergence at the poll was markedly informed by the administrative successes recorded during his first tenure as Sole Administrator of the area.

Mr Dayibu again commended the people of Jema’a Local Government for their understanding and cooperation during his stay in office and encouraged them to extend same to the incoming council which he said meant well to the people.

High point of the ceremony include the presentation of the handing over notes to the incoming chairman by the outgoing Overseer.

JEMA’A LG OVERSEER WELCOMES COMMUNITIES TRAINING ON DISASTER MITIGATION

The Overseer Jema’a local government, Mr Ibrahim Dayibu has described the planned intervention program by Christian Aid and Cooperationale Internationale (COOPI) to train communities in the area on flood and disaster mitigation strategies as a welcome development.

Mr Dayibu said this when the organizations led communities representatives from Jama’a Emirate and Zikpak Chiefdom on a familiarization visit to his office on Monday.

He said the knowledge of disaster management and containment strategies would enable especially disaster prone communities to know what action to take during emergency situations so as to minimize the possible losses often incurred during such unfortunate events.

Mr Dayibu encouraged the communities to embrace the program and to cooperate with the organizations to make the activities successful.

Earlier, the Senior Program Officer, Cooperationale Internationale, Mr Garba Salihu Abubakar said they were in the Overseer’s office to inform him of their planned intervention to train and increase communities capacity to mitigate and respond to flood disaster and other emergency situations.

Towards this end he said, the organizations have concluded arrangements to train the representatives of the selected communities and local government officials on Early Warning, Early Response system, and would again resuscitate the Local Government Emergency Management Committee in order to make it functional.

Mr Abubakar also explained that the program which is geared towards disaster risk reduction was being funded by European Union (EU) and that Jama’a Emirate and Zikpak Chiefdom were selected as pilot areas.
