International Women’s Day 2026 Message
By the Chairperson, Plateau Multi-Door Courthouse (PMDC)
On this International Women’s Day, the Plateau Multi-Door Courthouse joins the global community in reflecting on the 2026 UN Women theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls.” This year’s theme is both a summons and a mirror. It calls institutions not merely to speak about justice, but to make justice real, accessible, and lived for every woman and girl.
We respectfully recognize His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, for the broader responsibility of creating an enabling environment where justice institutions can thrive, where women’s rights can be protected, and where governance can speak with moral seriousness to the needs of women and girls across our state.
With profound respect, we honour the Honourable Chief Judge of Plateau State, whose leadership remains vital in strengthening the administration of justice and in sustaining confidence in the judiciary as a place where fairness must be seen and felt. Your stewardship continues to create room for innovation, integrity, and access within our justice architecture.
We equally acknowledge the Honourable Attorney General of Plateau State, a member of council, whose office plays a critical role in shaping the legal and policy environment within which justice can serve all, especially the vulnerable. At a time when the demand for inclusion and protection is rising, the work of ensuring that law remains an instrument of equity is more important than ever.
As Chairperson of the Plateau Multi-Door Courthouse, I warmly salute and celebrate our women neutrals, whose wisdom, balance, empathy, and firmness continue to give life to the ideals of mediation, conciliation, and peaceful resolution. You are not simply professionals within the justice system. You are bridge-builders, listeners in a noisy world, and steady hands where conflict threatens dignity. Your work reminds us that justice is not only found in rulings and procedures, but also in restoration, fairness, voice, and human respect.
I also extend deep appreciation to our gender champions of justice, women and men who continue to insist that justice must not be selective, delayed, or distant from the lived realities of women and girls. In every effort to make our institutions safer, fairer, and more responsive, you help move us from intention to impact, from policy to practice, from rhetoric to reform.
To the Council, Management, and Staff of PMDC and partners, I say thank you. International Women’s Day is not a ceremonial pause. It is a moment of institutional reckoning. It asks whether our systems truly serve women. It asks whether access to justice is affordable, approachable, and humane. It asks whether the woman who enters our doors finds not another wall, but a pathway. This is why PMDC must continue to stand as a people-centered justice institution, committed to fairness without fear, access without bias, and resolution without discrimination.
For us at PMDC, this year’s theme resonates deeply. Rights mean little when they cannot be enforced. Justice means little when it is delayed, unaffordable, or intimidating. Action is what transforms good intentions into outcomes that women and girls can actually feel in their homes, workplaces, communities, and courts.
As we mark this day, may we recommit ourselves to building a justice system where women are not merely accommodated, but fully recognized; not merely protected in theory, but empowered in practice; not merely invited to the table, but heard, respected, and represented in the decisions that shape society.
On behalf of the Plateau Multi-Door Courthouse, I celebrate all women who carry justice in their voices, courage in their convictions, and hope in their daily labour. We honour your strength. We value your service. We believe your presence is indispensable to peace, equity, and the future we seek to build.
Happy International Women’s Day.
